The Hot Water Treatment is an excellent way to relax the elastic memory of the material without sacrificing the original design of the partial. To use the Hot Water Treatment method for initial insertion and insertion after relines or repairs, place the appliance in hot tap water (not boiling) for approximately 30 seconds to 1 minute. When the appliance is at a tolerable temperature, insert into the patient’s mouth. Note: If you are doing the Hot Water Treatment for a clasp you only need to submerge the clasp section you want to adjust. Then, gently bend the clasp inward to tighten or outward to loosen while holding it under cold water.
