All things Orthodontists have said to me in the comments. I wish I were kidding. Let this be your sign to do your own research. Advocate for yourself. Get a 2nd, 3rd, 4th opinion when what your doctor is telling you doesn’t sound right. Bone borne maxillary expansion is rarely taught in orthodontic residency. Just because someone is an orthodontist doesn’t mean they know everything.

If you’ve had extraction retraction ortho, please share your story and help bring awareness to how damaging this can be. Extracting adult teeth should be an absolute last resort and expansion should be done whenever possible to make room for all the teeth.
