On February 28, skywatchers get a rare treat as Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Neptune, Uranus, and Jupiter appear in the evening sky together, stretched along the ecliptic like pearls on a cosmic string.
Brilliant Jupiter steals the show in the east near the twins of Gemini, glowing close to a bright, nearly full Moon. Higher up, Uranus hides beneath the Pleiades in Taurus—binoculars will help you spot it.
Toward the west, the real challenge begins. Venus shines low in the fading twilight, while Mercury and Saturn hover near the horizon, racing the setting Sun. Neptune lingers nearby but requires a telescope and perfect timing.
