Before & After Transformation ✨
This patient is very special to me. He was referred by an orthodontist who felt they couldn’t help him due to occlusion. The amount of change and positivity I witnessed through his transformation is truly indescribable.

Initially, my treatment plan involved extracting all his teeth. But after reconsidering, I decided to preserve as much of his natural dentition as possible. We began by extracting the posterior teeth due to occlusal issues, which allowed me to test the posterior occlusion and estimate the proper vertical dimension (VDO).

I then performed crown lengthening on the six anterior teeth, initially just to guide implant depth — but to my surprise, the result provided enough healthy tooth structure to save them! And at his last appointment, I asked him if he was happy — his heartfelt response said it all 🤣
He was initially referred to me years ago, and he returned many years later to finally begin treatment.

🦷 Final treatment:
Anterior single crowns + posterior implant bridges. Beautiful lab work by

A huge thank you to oral surgeon Dr. Nate Cary for his incredible work with the posterior extractions, bone reduction, and implant placement. Teamwork truly made this transformation possible. after ̇cs

My 59-year-old patient was referred to me due to significant wear and cracking in his teeth, caused by years of grinding and an unstable occlusion. He came in hoping to restore his smile—and show more teeth when he smiles—focusing on both function and esthetics.

I designed a treatment plan using a combination of crowns and onlays to rebuild and protect his teeth, ultimately restoring him into a mutually protected occlusion.

I truly enjoyed every step of the process—working together to restore his smile and help him feel more confident was such a rewarding experience. 💫

Thrilled to share this incredible smile transformation and the unique story behind it.
This beautiful patient was refer to me with a history of breaking her front teeth..she often used them as tools after losing function in her left hand due to radiation damage. She is a survivor of Hodgkin’s lymphoma and has experienced osteoradionecrosis of the roof of the mouth, which made her firmly against any crown lengthening or surgical alteration of her tissues.
My treatment goal was just to restore function by reestablishing her vertical dimension of occlusion (VDO), nothing more. She specifically requested no layering due to occasionally using her teeth as tools-understanding the risks of occasional chipping or breakage, but valuing durability and practicality above all.
Interestingly, simply opening the VDO softened her lip profile and reduced the appearance of a gummy smile.
Function can dramatically impact aesthetics—and sometimes, less is more.

Happy Mother’s Day to the best mom in the world!
You mean everything to me, and I’m so incredibly thankful to have such a loving, hard-working, and inspiring example of what a mother should be.

Even though you were always working, you were always there for us—no matter what we needed. You gave us your full attention, endless love, and endless support in every aspect of our lives. I wouldn’t be where I am without you.

Now that I’m a mother myself, I truly understand the importance of being present in the moment. I’m cherishing every second of this beautiful journey with my twin boys, and I honestly couldn’t ask for more in life.

Love you so much, Mom. 💕

For this patient was not a simple before and after, after suffering from multiple attempts of grafts by her general dentist, she decided to have a second opinion that lead her to realize she had an Oral/Nasal Fistula secondary to multiple failed implant/grafting efforts (look at slide # 2. With no possibility of implants, her oral surgeon ( Dr. Nate Cary), was able to repair debride and repair the oral/nasal fistula and also was able to put bone grafting to help support the soft tissue for the future FDP (bridge). Great work by oral surgeon / Dr. Nate Cary.
3 year follow up for this patient already.
What can we learn from this case:
- As a dental provider if things are not going as expected is better to stop and reach out to a specialist instead of creating more harm for the patient.
- In cases like this one in need of pink porcelain with bridges the most important is the fit, cleansability and convex contours to be sure the patient is not accumulating food and in high risk of developing caries underneath.
- And as restorative dentists /prosthodontist even if the patient does not show when smiling we try to create and mold the tissues as much as possible with temporaries as you can see in slide # 3. From start point to end result.

One of my patients arrived at my dental practice with concerns that went beyond the cosmetic or esthetic. The issues she was facing included elements that went beyond restoring her smile.

She came to me, extremely frustrated with pain in her teeth due to mobility and sensitivity, as well as an inability to speak properly. (Though I should add that she also wasn’t pleased with the state of the esthetics of her teeth!)

Her original dentist provided her with veneers on two occasions and she was not only unhappy with how they looked, but she was also not able to function (chew) properly. She had been unable to eat due to mobility of the front teeth and also because of the lack of posterior contact on the posterior teeth.

What can we learn from this?
1) We need to be sure that with all restorations that we will not alter the patients occlusion (bite).
2) We need to know the ideal thickness of the final restorations.
3) We need to know whether we have sufficient space in the mouth for the treatment plan that has been offered to the patient
4) Occlusion is the most important thing in the prognosis of your veneers or anterior crowns.
*Most importantly, before we ever start a case we need to know exactly what the end result will be before we touch the patient.

Additional info for dentists:
The patient had fremitus of the anterior crowns due to excessive thickness in the lingual surface of the anterior restorations altering the posterior occlusion.

Treatment: I removed the anterior restorations and established a new vertical dimension to create space for anterior restorations.

This past month we celebrated 4 years that I have been working with my dear assistant Stacy. It is so important that I say thank you to her for all of her hard work - especially for always being there for me and our patients.
It is crazy to think that we spend more time with our co-workers than our families, and that’s why I am beyond thankful that you are the person that I spend the most time with.
You are a dedicated, thoughtful and hard-working individual that makes our days go by smoothly and I sincerely thank you for that. Here’s to many more years of working together!
