Now that the cat is out of the bag and y'all know I'm retiring, it gives me great pleasure to introduce my successor, Dr. Beshoy Eskandar.

Dr. Eskandar is a friend and colleague that I have known for some time. We both belong to the Channel Islands Dental Forum, a dental study group consisting of, in my humble opinion, the top echelon of dentists here in Ventura County. We also refer to the same outstanding specialists in our community.

He is an outstanding dentist. Dr. Eskandar attended dental school in Egypt and then emigrated to the United States in search of a better life. He received his American dental degree from UCLA School of Dentistry and has been in private practice here in Ventura. He is merging my practice with his and I will be working with him for the next few months at his office to assist in the transition and introduce my patients to him.

Those of you who are my patients will be in very good hands, my staff will be continuing with him so you will be seeing familiar faces.

I have the utmost confidence in Dr. Eskandar, and I know that he and his practice will continue to provide you with the same high level of care that you have come to expect from me and my staff.

Dear patients, friends and family:

I am retiring. It has been my honor and privilege to serve and care for my wonderful patients here in Ventura County for 40 years. You are all my family, I have always strived to give you my best with gentleness, care, compassion and skill, always imagining that I am in that dental chair, not you.

I am honored and humbled to have studied with and worked some of the finest dentists, not in just Ventura County, but in the entire country, including but not limited to Dr. Saj Jivraj, Dr. Bruce Crispin, Dr. Hooman Zarrinkelk, Dr. Hessam Siavash, Dr. Erin Duarte, Dr. Timothy Jue, Dr. Paul Hannah, Dr. Ken Smith, Dr. Bruce Abbink, Dr. Jon Wong, Dr. Ron Hunter, Dr. Jeremy Wilgus, and others. I know I have left some of you out, I sincerely apologize, you know who you are. I am a firm believer that those with whom you associate lift you up. You all have lifted me up to be the dentist that I am.

I would say that I have been blessed. However, to me, that would suggest that God plays favorites... I don't think he does. Let's just say I have been very lucky.

I could never have made it through these 40 years without my loving wife, Callie, by my side. I am so grateful to her and my children, Ryan & Chelsea, for supporting me, encouraging me and standing by my side through the tough times and the good times.

Now it is time to lay down my dental mirror and probe, grab my fishing rod and guitar, hook up the 5th wheel, leash up my dogs and go have some fun with my bride.

You will hear from me again soon when I introduce you to Dr. Beshoy Eskandar, my talented and caring colleague and successor. I am looking forward to working with him through this momentous transition, and know that my patients will be treated wonderfully under his care.

Do you have an upcoming appointment scheduled with Dr. Keating? (Or do you need to schedule one?) If so, please read the following to better understand what to expect when you arrive. And if needed, please call our office at 805-642-7645 with questions or to set up your appointment!

1. Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions. You’ll be asked those same questions again when you are in the office.

2. We will have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use when you enter the office.

3. We will ask you to wear a mask in the reception room.

4. We request that family members and friends NOT accompany you to your appointment. If they must, we will ask that they wait outside or in the car.

5. You may see that our waiting room will no longer offer magazines, since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect.

6. Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that you’re offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment.

7. We will do our best to allow greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to minimize the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.

We are committed to promoting a safe, clean and socially distanced experience as we practice strict infection control during this time.

Dr. Keating's office is currently open and accepting patients. The Dr. and staff are strictly and precisely following infection control and safety measures recommended by the CDC, ADA and County of Ventura, and ask that all patients arriving for an appointment do the same.

UPDATE: An important message from Dr. Keating regarding COVID-19

As we continue to follow orders and advice from the CDC, State of California, American Dental Association and California Dental Association (CDA), we will begin to slowly re-open our practice and see patients on a limited basis.

UPDATE: An Important Message Regarding COVID-19/Coronavirus

Dear Patients,

In light of the rapid spread of the COVID-10 virus and recommendations from the CDC, California Dental Association, and American Dental Association, we will be open on a limited basis over the next 14 days to treat dental emergencies only. All elective and non-urgent dental care will be postponed to a later time.

If you have a dental emergency, please call 805-642-7645 and select option 3 on the voicemail prompt to leave a message in our emergency voicemail box.
