We recently celebrated the 50-year anniversary of Advanced Education in Implant Dentistry at Loma Linda University.
It was a wonderful opportunity for Dr. Proussaefs to reconnect with longtime friends and colleagues and celebrate an important milestone in dental and implant education.

Learning, Teaching—and Always Continuing to Learn
I just returned from a very special event celebrating the 50-year anniversary of the Loma Linda University Implant Dentistry program.
As an Associate Professor at Loma Linda University, one of the privileges of my career has been the opportunity not only to treat patients, but also to teach other dentists. Just as important, however, is continuing to learn from other clinicians, educators, and researchers.
This anniversary brought together friends, colleagues, mentors, and implant dentists from around the world. Some of my former teachers and mentors have become lifelong friends—although I still consider them mentors!
It was an incredible reunion, an excellent continuing education experience, and a chance to exchange ideas with colleagues whom I greatly respect.
For our patients at Pacific View Dental Group, continuing education is much more than attending courses. It means bringing new knowledge, experience, and ideas back to the office and continually looking for ways to provide better care.
A wonderful few days—and a privilege to be part of the Loma Linda family.

For more than 25 years, Dr. Periklis Proussaefs has combined patient care with dental education, teaching and mentoring other dentists while continuing to practice clinically.
Next week, he will return to Loma Linda University to serve as a moderator for its 50th Anniversary Implant Symposium, alongside an outstanding group of educators and clinicians in implant dentistry.
We believe there is something valuable about having a dentist who not only practices dentistry every day, but also helps educate the next generation of dentists.
Dr. Proussaefs is looking forward to reconnecting with longtime mentors, colleagues, and friends—and bringing that experience and knowledge back to the patients we serve.

The small details can make a big difference in a smile.
Creating a full-arch dental restoration involves much more than simply making a set of teeth. The final finishing process can add subtle variations in color, texture and gum characterization to make the restoration appear more natural.
These photographs show the restoration during different stages of finishing and characterization—and the final result in the patient's smile.
Our goal is not simply to replace teeth, but to carefully consider the details that contribute to a natural-looking smile.

Am I too old for dental implants?
We hear this question more often than you might think.
The good news is that age alone usually does not determine whether you can have dental implants. We treat patients in their 60s, 70s and even 80s. What matters more is your overall health, bone support and ability to heal.
For many people, implants can provide a more stable alternative to dentures and make eating comfortably much easier.
So the better question may not be, “Am I too old?” but rather, “Am I healthy enough for dental implants?”
