POV: you got a confidence boost from your smile upgrade. Smile makeovers don’t change a personality, but they often allow a personality to be seen more completely. This patient had cavities on the front teeth from a young age and had bonding done a few times causing her to really hide her smile. Unfortunately resin can stain and discolor over time and she wanted a permanent fix to always feel confident when she smiled. 10 veneers later and that smile upgrade was complete. Her whole look changed and her personality shows even in these simple photos. Absolutely love this case!!!

Scott. “I want to feel more confident when I’m speaking in public!” Scott is one of my favorite humans ever. Huge Tennessee fan. He is brilliant in every aspect. He’s boisterous, gregarious, and in front of many people for work. He didn’t like that his front teeth were chipping away and discolored. He also didn’t want to change his overall look, just improve the color and get his smile back to how he remembered it. We worked with to get a design that mimicked his natural teeth and the results are stunning. 8 veneers up top, 10 veneers on bottom restored his smile to his natural function and beauty.

Amber. “I just want my smile back.” After a serious car accident, her teeth were all chipped and displaced. She thought some bonding would do the trick and while it did help, it just wasn’t her smile. Amber came to me saying that she wasn’t able to feel herself and express her personality because she didn’t like her smile. We rebuilt her broken teeth and gave her back her smile, just like she remembered. Nothing crazy or Hollywood, just her natural beautiful teeth. And that’s what she got…and she couldn’t be happier. Andrew. This case is way more difficult than you think. Most dentists and labs wouldn’t ever leave the front two teeth and veneer the rest. Getting the colors and shapes to match perfectly is just so impossible. Huge kudos to my lab , Nelson and Juan Rego for the ceramic and comprehensive planning on this case. The patient had just completed ortho to get his teeth in the perfect position to just veneer the posterior teeth. One more thing to note for the keen observer; he is missing his lateral incisors, the two teeth on either side of his front teeth. We created new shapes for his teeth through the veneers so you would never know. The design process was crucial to ensure we could make this happen. Mock ups and custom temporary veneers are essential to ensure this type of outcome. But the best of all, if you’re meeting him for the first time…you’d just notice what a great smile he has…without ever knowing which teeth were real and which were veneers. And that’s the whole point. Love this case.

Ana. Look at the smile from all angles. The reality is that most people see your smile from other angles than just the front. More than the front teeth matter in a smile. The “laterals” (the teeth on either side of the front two), the “canines” (often times the sharper or pointier ones), the “premolars” or “bicuspids” or even called “the back teeth” (those behind the canines)…they all matter. The size and shape of each one contributes to the proper size and shape of the front teeth. Swipe through these and check out just how important each tooth size and shape is to the whole smile. It’s also the only real way to change the color of the teeth in a significant way. Only doing a few teeth will limit the range of changes you can make with a smile. We took all of that in our plan and look at the result. Nailed it. From every angle.

Paul. Not every case can be solved by orthodontics. And not every patient wants to spend the time and money in orthodontics. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge proponent of putting teeth in ideal locations for the least possible preparation of the enamel. And sometimes doing ten veneers will get you the result you want…now. You can see the difficulty in this case. He was never happy with the diastema (space) between his front two teeth, as well as the shapes of the teeth moving towards the back. You can see some bonding that was done on the front two teeth to try to minimize the gap. But the real key to this case was design planning with my ceramists at and customizing the temporary veneers so they fit his facial profiles without making the teeth look too big. Getting those axial inclinations (how the teeth slope inwards towards the back teeth) were essential to make his smile look like him. His wife said he’s smiling more than ever. Paul initially came in because he wanted to look back at pictures with his family and love his smile. Mission accomplished.

The Journey! Sometimes I even forget how far we’ve come. Chloe approached me about getting her smile ready for the wedding, and we got started ASAP. She was super diligent with her clear aligners, moving her teeth as much as possible before the big day. At that point, it was up to me to put on the final details by hand. I used the middle tooth with the ideal shape as my guide and then layered all the other teeth with just enough colors to make it match perfectly. We spent time together getting the lengths of all the teeth perfect and the shapes to look like they had always been that way. The final result, a smile that this blushing bride could show how happy she felt without ever holding back. Congratulations Chloe on such a perfect day.
