Most people think a dental visit is just a cleaning and a “looks good, see you in six months.” But a comprehensive exam? That’s a whole different level of care — and honestly, it might be one of the most important health appointments you book this year.

Because here’s the thing: your mouth doesn’t lie.

It shows signs of heart disease, diabetes, sleep apnea, and even certain cancers — often before any other part of your body does. Leveling up together 🦷✨

So grateful to spend the evening last night learning alongside my incredible expanded function dental assistants, Alyx & Audrey, at the Dental Collaborative Study Club with Dr. Sonia Bennett !

This hands-on course focused on shaping long-term single implant success through immediate implant provisionalization — because great dentistry is about more than placing an implant… it’s about creating the best possible outcome for our patients for years to come. 🙌

One of my favorite parts of dentistry is growing together as a team: learning new techniques, collaborating with colleagues, getting our hands dirty, laughing a lot, and continuing to raise the standard of care for our patients.

So thankful for opportunities like this right here in our community. We all level up together. 💙

Tooth sensitivity is one of those sneaky things that can show up even when everything looks “fine.” Sometimes it’s just gum recession exposing the root surface, sometimes it’s clenching at night, and sometimes your teeth are just being a little dramatic (relatable).

Dentistry is NOT a get rich quick scheme.

It’s more like:
✨ survive 8+ years of school
✨ graduate with mortgage-sized debt
✨ take out another million-dollar loan to open a practice
✨ destroy your neck and back in the process
✨ argue with insurance companies for sport
✨ pay thousands every year just to keep your license active
✨ hear noises equivalent to a lawn mower next to your head all day
✨ emotionally absorb everyone else’s fear, anxiety, and trauma
✨ and then still somehow smile and say “open a little wider for me” 🫶

People see the nice office and think dentists are out here printing money.

Meanwhile most dentists are:
🦷 reinvesting constantly into technology
🦷 paying massive overhead
🦷 trying to take care of their team
🦷 stressing over patients
🦷 taking CE courses on weekends
🦷 and eating lunch in approximately 4.5 seconds

This profession can be beautiful, rewarding, meaningful, exhausting, stressful, emotional, and unbelievably expensive all at the same time.

Nobody accidentally survives becoming a dentist.

You do it because somewhere along the way, helping people started mattering more than how hard it is. 🤍

At our last team meeting, we got in the operatories with cameras 📸🦷

As a comprehensive dental office, we know that great dentistry starts with great diagnosis — and great diagnosis starts with being able to truly see what’s going on. That’s why our team spent time doing hands-on photography training focused on improving our intraoral and arch photos.

Because pictures tell a story.

When patients can see detailed images of their own mouth right in front of them on the TV during their visit, conversations become clearer, education becomes more meaningful, and patients are empowered to better understand and take ownership of their dental health.

A huge shoutout to Shannon for leading the training and coaching our team through techniques to capture better, more consistent images 👏 We’re committed to continually learning, improving, and working together so we can provide the highest level of care, communication, and documentation for our patients — now and for years to come.

Sometimes the smallest details make the biggest difference.

This patient came to us after years of hiding her smile because of the divots on her front teeth that developed when she was in middle school. Over time, she learned how to smile differently, speak differently, and avoid showing her teeth altogether because she felt so self-conscious about them.

She had previously been told that veneers or a more aggressive treatment would be her only option. But as a dental healthcare professional herself, she knew she wanted something more conservative and minimally invasive — so instead, she simply went without treatment for years.

In just ONE appointment, Dr Heather Hradek was able to conservatively smooth and restore these teeth, close the black triangles, and create a natural, seamless smile without removing any tooth structure using minimally invasive cosmetic techniques inspired by advanced training Dr. Heather recently completed.

When we handed her the mirror, she cried. 🥹

Not because she wanted a “perfect” smile. Because she finally felt like herself again.

Moments like this are why we invest so heavily in continuing education and advanced training. Dentistry is not about pushing the biggest or most expensive treatment. We could have chosen a far more aggressive option — but that wouldn’t have been the right fit for HER goals.
