Different providers may offer different opinions—but what are YOU hoping to achieve? 👀

Your end goal should guide who you choose for your care. Ask how their recommended treatment supports that goal and what experience they have treating concerns like yours.

At Sandhills Family Dental, we want to understand your goals, explain your options, and help you make an informed decision. Your questions belong in that conversation. 🤍

Your clear aligner trays shouldn’t be the only thing that’s transparent. 👀🦷

Before starting treatment as an adult, you should understand the whole plan: what we’re correcting, how your bite fits into the picture, the expected timeline, costs, and your responsibilities—including retainers afterward.

At Sandhills Family Dental, we want you to feel comfortable asking questions and confident about your next steps.

Considering clear aligners? Let’s talk through the ins and outs together. 🤍

One thing I do a little differently as a dentist and a mom? 🦷👩‍👧‍👦

Xylitol is a staple in our house.

Most people know xylitol for its dental benefits, but I also like xylitol-containing products when my kids are dealing with thick mucus and congestion. And during those moments, it can become just as much a part of our routine as taking care of their teeth.

Of course, brushing still matters (dentist mom here 😂), but oral health is about more than just brushing twice a day.

Sometimes it’s the little things we incorporate into our everyday routines that can make a difference. 🤍

Fillers and Botox can be great tools, but I don’t believe they should always be the first step. 👏

If the underlying issue is related to bone structure, facial development, or the way your bite is supporting your face, adding filler may only address what we see on the surface.

My approach is to look deeper first. 🦷✨

By understanding and addressing the foundation, your teeth, bite, airway, and supporting structures, we can create a healthier foundation before deciding whether treatments like filler or Botox make sense for your goals.

Because when it comes to your face, I’m not just looking at where we can add volume. I’m looking at why things look the way they do in the first place.

Foundation first. Finishing touches second. 🤍

That little underbite might look pretty cute right now… 🥹 But it’s not something we want to simply “wait and see” as your child grows.

An underbite can be a sign that the upper and lower jaws aren’t developing in balance. And because kids are still growing, EARLY intervention can give us an opportunity to help guide that growth rather than waiting until the problem becomes more difficult to address later.

The goal isn’t just straighter teeth—it’s supporting healthy jaw development, function, bite, and facial growth.

So yes, that little underbite may be adorable. 😉 But it’s also worth having evaluated early.

If you’ve noticed your child’s bottom teeth sitting in front of their top teeth, ask about it at their next visit! 🦷✨

What’s the weirdest symptom that can make me start asking questions about a child’s airway? 👀

Sometimes, it’s the things you wouldn’t immediately connect to breathing.

Bedwetting. 😳

When a child is still wetting the bed beyond the age you’d expect, it can be worth looking at the bigger picture—especially if you’re also noticing things like mouth breathing, snoring, restless sleep, teeth grinding, or daytime fatigue.

Why? Because disrupted breathing can mean disrupted sleep. And when a child isn’t getting the deep, restorative sleep their body needs, it can show up in some surprising ways.

Does bedwetting automatically mean there’s an airway issue? No. But it CAN be one more clue that makes me start asking questions.

Sometimes the mouth tells us a whole lot more than what’s happening with the teeth. 🦷💤

“But my child’s teeth look straight…so everything is developing correctly, right?” 👀🦷

Not necessarily.

Straight teeth are only ONE piece of the picture.

We’re also looking at how wide the arches are, how the upper and lower jaws are growing, how the bite comes together, where the tongue rests, and how your child is breathing and sleeping.

A smile can look perfectly straight from the outside while there are still developmental or functional concerns worth paying attention to.

That’s why we don’t wait for crooked teeth to start asking questions.

We’re not just watching teeth come in.

We’re watching your CHILD grow. 💙

Something we’re seeing in kids’ mouths that deserves WAY more attention? 👀🦷

Wear on their teeth.

When we see flattened edges, worn-down teeth, chips, or signs of grinding in a child, we don’t just think, “They grind their teeth.”

We start asking WHY.

Teeth wear can be a clue that leads us to look closer at their bite, jaw development, sleep, breathing, and airway. It doesn’t automatically mean there’s a bigger problem—but it can be one piece of the puzzle.

Kids’ teeth can tell us a lot about what’s happening when they’re sleeping.

So when we see wear, we don’t just look at the tooth.

We look at the whole child. 💙

Looking for a dentist who actually GETS you? 👀🦷

One who listens before jumping into treatment. Who wants to know what’s bothering you, what your goals are, what you’re nervous about, and what’s actually realistic for your life.

That’s the kind of care I believe in.

You’re not just a set of teeth in my chair. You’re a whole person—and your treatment should reflect that.

No judgment. No one-size-fits-all plans.

You don’t always need a BIG change to make a big difference. 🦷✨

Sometimes it’s improving one habit. Adjusting the bite. Creating a little more space. Changing tongue posture. Breathing through your nose. Or finally addressing something you’ve ignored for years.

Those small changes can add up to better function, healthier teeth, improved comfort, and a smile you feel confident about.

That’s why we’re not always looking for the biggest treatment.

We’re looking for the RIGHT change for you. 💙
