Wearing your retainer every night is crucial for maintaining the alignment of your teeth after orthodontic treatment, such as braces and aligners. When your braces/attachments are removed, your teeth are still prone to shifting back to their original positions because the bone and tissues around the teeth haven’t fully adapted to the new positions. Wearing your retainer helps to stabilize the teeth in their new position, preventing relapse and ensuring the long-term success of your orthodontic treatment. If you don’t wear it as instructed, there’s a higher risk of your teeth shifting, which could result in needing additional orthodontic work.
