Young horses develop sharp enamel points as their deciduous (baby) teeth , and then permanent teeth, erupt and come into wear.

Before the age of five, they will shed up to 24 deciduous teeth as the permanent teeth come through.

This stage often coincides with the introduction of bitting and early ridden work, where any discomfort in the mouth may affect acceptance of the bit and behaviour.

Regular dental examinations by a qualified Equine Dental Technician will ensure their mouth is comfortable, supporting a positive start to their ridden career.

Well unfortunately I have to follow suit of the Farriers, vets, shipping companies and other equine providers and announce a price increase.

Recently the price of everything has gone up, Gas, hotels, blades and most importantly continued education ! In February I attended the IAED conference which cost a considerable amount. In April I will be attending the EGTI summit in Idaho were I’ll gain more knowledge in equine dentistry, this is all to provide a better and up to date service for your horse’s.

That being said any body that books a appointment after April 1st will be set at the new price of $100 per horse from $90 per horse. If you are already booked in and your appointment is after April 1st it will still be $90 per horse.

As a token of appreciation for all our hardworking colleagues in the stable, we would like to honor your work today. We know that equine dentistry would not be possible without equine dental practitioners who treat horses in the field every single day.

We are aware that not every horse -
just as in human medicine- requires an endoscopic, radiographic, or even a CT examination, let alone endodontic treatment or extraction. We thank the equine dental practitioners who, during their examinations with headlamp and mirror, are able to detect issues and decide whether further diagnostic evaluation by a specialist is necessary, and who then refer the case accordingly.
