Dear Wonderful Patients,
We have finally received instructions from the Dental Board as to when and how we can reopen our practice. First, the "when" will be Tuesday, May 5th. The "how" refers to new restrictions we must follow.
We will begin calling patients starting on Monday, May 4th to make appointments. We will ask you some screening questions over the phone related to Corona virus symptoms and then inform you about the process for your next appointment. When you arrive at the office we will ask you to remain in your vehicle and call us to let us know you are there. Once a treatment chair is ready, we will call you and have the patient come into the vestibule. (We can only allow one parent or caregiver to come in with a young patient) Once in the vestibule, a staff member will ask you some screening questions and take your temperature. You will then be escorted to a treatment chair.
You'll notice right away that we'll all be wearing special jackets, masks, goggles, and gloves just to help protect everyone. We will be taking extra steps to keep the office clean and sanitized.
Now there will be some restrictions at first as to the types of procedures we can do. The two types of procedures that have the highest risk of spreading germs are using a drill and spraying water. These things are mostly used when we remove braces and replace broken brackets. We will need some extra protective equipment before we can do these procedures. The problem is there is a nationwide shortage of these supplies and we are not sure when they will arrive. For the vast majority of procedures, we are ready to go. We can change colors and wires, check rubber bands, make x-rays, and monitor progress. Hopefully within days to a few weeks we will be fully operational.
We are so excited about seeing you all again soon! Please be patient as we work through this transition together.
Dr. B
