Spring is here, and with it comes the dreaded allergy season. If you usually have a rough time with seasonal allergies it could have a negative impact on your oral health.
Having a stuffy nose leads to breathing through your mouth, which can lead to dry mouth and increased tooth decay and bad breath. Seasonal allergies can also cause inflammation, and when gums get inflamed and swell, it makes it more difficult to thoroughly brush your teeth.
Properly treating your allergies and drinking plenty of water can help combat these issues, but if you're worried about the long term effects of allergies on your health, ask us at your next appointment!

Inside your tooth, underneath the hard layer of enamel and dentin, is a soft tissue called pulp, which contains blood vessels, nerves, and connective tissue. Root Canal Therapy is a procedure to remove infected or inflamed pulp. Once it is removed, the tooth is carefully cleaned, disinfected, filled and sealed.

Common signs and symptoms which might require a root canal:
•Pain while chewing or applying pressure to a tooth
•Prolonged sensitivity or pain to hot or cold temperatures after the cause of temperature change has been removed
•Discoloration or darkening of the tooth
•Swelling or tenderness in gums surrounding the tooth

If you experience any of these symptoms, contact us for a consultation!

We're almost a quarter of the way into the new year — have you started getting the most out of your dental insurance this year? If not, NOW is the time to book an appointment!

Most insurance policies are "use it or lose it" with benefits that expire on December 31st and any unused portion being lost. Making sure you get in to see us regularly throughout the year will help to ensure you get the most out of your insurance coverage.

To get the most out of your insurance benefits, and to avoid any scheduling conflicts, give us a call to schedule and with any questions you may have!

What is Holistic Dentistry?
In the past, the term holistic dentistry has been confused with fads and avoiding certain treatments, but what it really means is focusing on the health of the whole body health as well as the oral health of a patient. This approach is especially important when we consider how much we know about how a person's overall health is affected by their dental health.
Taking care of your mouth can help prevent serious health conditions like heart disease and diabetes later in life. Taking care of your entire body by eating healthy foods and getting regular exercise can actually improve your dental health. Ask us during your next visit to Yamaguchi Family Dentistry how you can improve your overall health in relation to your dental health!

Why is caring for your child's primary or "baby" teeth so important when they're just going to fall out anyway?
Losing these teeth prematurely can cause adult teeth to grow in crooked or too crowded. They also help your child smile, chew, and speak properly, so ensuring that they are cared for is very important to your child's development. Get excellent dental care for your child's teeth and the whole family at Yamaguchi Family Dentistry!
