Before Lesby Paredes, RDH, became one of the compassionate periodontal hygienists our patients know and trust at Transcend, she was a little girl in Honduras waiting for a medical mission team.
She remembers traveling for care, standing in long lines, and holding her mother’s hand. The volunteers who came to serve may not remember her—but Lesby never forgot them.
They gave her more than medical care. They gave her hope.
“As a little girl, I remember thinking, I want to become one of them.”
That hope stayed with Lesby through poverty, hardship, immigrating to the United States with very little English, and the long journey toward becoming a dental hygienist. She kept learning. She kept serving. She kept showing up—one opportunity at a time.
Today, Lesby brings that same hope, compassion, and dignity to every patient she serves at Transcend Dental Implants & Periodontics.
Her story reminds us that we may never fully see what God will do through one act of obedience. The care provided during a mission may last a day, but the hope it creates can shape a life for generations.
“The people who served my hometown may never know whose life they changed. I know—because they changed mine.”
