It’s not just a toothbrush. It’s a commitment. 🪥❤️
Six-month relationship status: It’s complicated.
But don’t worry… your hygienist will be checking in on both of you. 😂
Happy National Dental Hygiene Month to the people who give you a toothbrush and somehow make you feel guilty if you don’t treat it right. 🦷😂

By the way, The American Dental Association recommends replacing your toothbrush every 3-4 months 👀

We’re professionals.
We take oral health very seriously.
But we’re also human… 😂
So when you tell us you floss every day and your gums confirm it: 💃🕺
It’s the little things, okay? 😂🦷

🦷 YOUR MOUTH IS A GATEWAY TO YOUR OVERALL HEALTH

Your mouth isn’t separate from the rest of your body—it’s part of it. ❤️

That’s one reason we pay attention to much more than whether or not you have cavities.
Inflamed or bleeding gums can be signs of periodontal disease, and research has found associations between periodontal disease and several systemic conditions, including diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Your mouth can also give us clues about things happening elsewhere in the body—from dry mouth and medication side effects to nutritional deficiencies and other health changes.
So when your hygienist is checking your gums, measuring those little numbers, reviewing your health history and asking what medications you take…

We’re not just cleaning your teeth. We’re looking at a piece of the bigger picture. 🦷❤️
Because a healthy smile isn't just about your smile.

WHY ARE WE POKING YOUR GUMS? 🤨

Ever wondered why your hygienist is poking around your gums calling out numbers like…
“2… 3… 3… 4… 2…”
…and sometimes someone else is typing like their life depends on it? 😂
We're not playing dental bingo.
We're measuring the space around your teeth and recording those measurements so we can monitor your periodontal health over time.
Those numbers—along with things like bleeding, recession, inflammation, bone levels and other findings—help us see changes that you may not be able to feel or see yourself.
That’s why your hygiene appointment is about a whole lot more than getting your teeth polished. 🦷❤️
And now you finally know what all those numbers mean!

LEFT: “THE NEIGHBOR WHO MAINTAINS THEIR YARD” 🌱
Healthy gums
Healthy bone
Minimal inflammation
“Nothing exciting happening over here.”

RIGHT: “THE NEIGHBOR WHO LET THINGS GET A LITTLE OUT OF HAND” 👀
Plaque → The uninvited guest
Tartar → Plaque that moved in permanently
Deep pocket → Where your toothbrush can’t save you
Bone loss → This is the part we REALLY care about
Across the bottom:
“Gum disease usually isn’t dramatic… until it is.”
Regular hygiene visits, exams and periodontal measurements help us catch changes before your teeth start losing valuable real estate.

DENTAL HYGIENE MONTH IS UPON US🦷✨

October is National Dental Hygiene Month, which means it’s officially time to appreciate the people who somehow manage to ask you questions while their hands are in your mouth. 😂
But our hygienists do a whole lot more than “clean teeth.”

They’re reviewing your health history and medications, checking your gums, monitoring bone levels, looking for changes, reviewing your home care, and partnering with Dr. Cebulka to give you the best care possible, all while keeping an eye on areas we’ve been watching and helping catch problems before they become bigger ones.

So this month, we’re giving a little extra love to our hygiene team. ❤️

Thank you Laurie, Carla and Jess for all you do for our patients!

It’s officially that time again 🎃😂

Our annual pumpkin decorating contest is BACK and, as usual, the competitive spirit may be slightly out of control. 👀 (jk-these are all previous years pumpkins so they get the glory they deserve)

POP QUIZ! 👀
Which of these can be an early sign of gum disease?
A. Bleeding when you brush or floss
B. Puffy or tender gums
C. Persistent bad breath
D. All of the above
Drop your answer below BEFORE you peek. 👇
Answer: D — all of the above! 🦷
And here’s the important part: gum disease can be present without causing pain, especially in its earlier stages. That’s one reason your routine hygiene visits and periodontal evaluations matter—even when everything feels fine.

🦷 The Cleveland Clinic published an article in 2023 stating approximately 50% to 75% of the adult population experiences at least one of the above symptoms, as they are the primary indicators of gingivitis (the early stage of gum disease) and general periodontal issues.

🦷 We want to hear from YOU!

We know that for some people, even **thinking about a dental appointment** can bring a little anxiety. So we want to know: **What would make your visit with us more comfortable?

If you could add a comfort option to the dental chair, what would you choose?

🧣 A.** Cozy blanket
🎧 B.** Headphones/music
📺 C.** TV or something to watch
😎 D.** Sunglasses/eye mask
💆‍♀️ E.** Neck or lumbar pillow
✨ F.** Something else — tell us!

Drop your letter (or your own idea!) in the comments. 👇

And yes, **“get me numb and don’t talk to me”** is an acceptable write-in answer. 😂

We’re always looking for little ways to make coming to the dentist feel a whole lot less like…well, coming to the dentist. ❤️🦷
