By replacing clinical terms with playful names, we take the mystery and “scary” out of a check-up. Instead, it becomes an adventure where kids feel confident, curious, and totally in control of their own smiles. ☁️💙

The tears are totally normal, but the milestone is major!

We are so incredibly grateful to this amazing family for allowing us to share a peek into their 15-month-old’s first dental visit with Skyview.

For many toddlers, a trip to the dentist involves some tears—and that is completely okay! Our goal isn’t a perfectly quiet visit; it’s a safe, thorough, and supportive one. In this video, Dr. Katelyn is using the “knee-to-knee” method, where your child stays safely in your lap, looking right at you, while we gently check their growing smile.

Having parents partner with us during the exam makes all the difference in helping little ones feel secure. While the tears might happen now, starting these visits early is the single best way to ensure their oral health is taken care of and to build brave, confident smiles for the future.

Join us in celebrating the amazing Dr. Katelyn! She was recently published in the prestigious Journal of Pediatric Health Care for her article, “Recognition and Management of Pediatric Trauma and Infections,” co-authored with Lisa Schaeg Merritt, DNP, APRN, CPNP-PC/AC.

We love it when our patients come fully prepared for takeoff. As you can see in image.png, this cool pilot brought his very own sunglasses to his visit today!

While we always provide fun sunglasses to keep our patients’ eyes comfortable under our bright overhead exam lights, we highly encourage bringing your own personal favorites if it makes you feel like a superstar.

Between his awesome shades and a pre-flight pit stop in our waiting room airplane, he completely aced his check-up!
