On June 8, 1966, a devastating tornado tore through our community, leaving a lasting impact on countless families and neighborhoods. Sixty years later, we honor the resilience, courage, and determination of the people of Topeka who came together to rebuild.
The tornado was the costliet tornado in US history at the time- with damages exceeding $200 million. Sadly, 17 people lost their lives and more than 500 people were injured. The tornado also tore through the heart of Washburn University, forever altering the campus.
At Reed Dental Center, we're proud to call Topeka home and grateful to be part of a city with such a remarkable spirit.
