Google says you need a root canal. Now what?

The internet can be a great place to gather information, but it can't examine your teeth.

Many dental problems share similar symptoms, which is why online searches often create more confusion than clarity.

A comprehensive exam allows us to identify what's actually causing the problem and recommend the right treatment for you.

Before you spend another hour researching, schedule an appointment and get real answers.

Most people think they're doing a great job brushing their teeth.

But here's something we see all the time: patients are actually brushing too hard.

It seems harmless enough. If brushing is good, brushing harder should be better, right?

Unfortunately, that's not how it works.

Using too much pressure can gradually wear away enamel near the gumline and irritate your gums over time. In some cases, it can even contribute to the sensitivity people notice when drinking something cold.

A simple way to tell if you might be brushing too aggressively is to look at your toothbrush. If the bristles start looking bent, flattened, or frayed long before it's time to replace it, there's a good chance you're using more force than necessary.

The goal isn't to scrub your teeth. The goal is to remove plaque effectively while protecting the enamel and gum tissue that keep your smile healthy.

Small adjustments to your brushing technique can make a bigger difference than most people realize.

If you've noticed sensitivity, gum irritation, or you're not sure if your brushing technique is helping or hurting, schedule an appointment with Modern Smile Center. We'll help you find the cause and recommend the best solution for your smile.

There are a few things we hear all the time before someone sits down in the chair.

“I know it’s been a while.”
“It just started bothering me.”
“I probably should’ve come in sooner.”

None of that is unusual.

Most people aren’t walking in with perfect routines or perfect timing. Life gets busy, things get put off, and sometimes it takes a little while before something feels important enough to deal with.

The only part that really matters is what you do next.

06/10/2026

This is the part of dentistry most patients never see.

Before we begin, your treatment is mapped out using 3D modeling
so every step is intentional and every detail is accounted for.

That level of planning leads to more precise work, better outcomes, and a process that’s built around you from the start.

It’s how modern dentistry should be done.

A lot of patients come in after trying to figure things out on their own first.

Sometimes what they find tells them it’s nothing to worry about. Other times it points straight to something major like a root canal.

The problem is, most symptoms overlap.

What feels like something small can turn out to be more involved, and something that seems serious online might have a much simpler explanation in person.

Dentistry is very specific. Two people can have similar symptoms and need completely different treatments.

The only way to know what’s actually going on is to look at it directly and base the decision on what’s really there.

When people think about going to the dentist, they usually think about the doctor.

But a lot of the most important work happens before you ever get to that point.

Your hygienist is the one who’s consistently checking for early signs of issues, keeping things clean and stable, and helping prevent small problems from turning into bigger ones.

Those regular visits might feel routine, but they’re what make everything else easier long-term.

Staying consistent here is what helps you avoid needing more involved treatment later.

This might be the most important debate happening in the office right now.

Kelly swears she’s seen it hit the corner.
Taylor says that’s impossible.

We need a verdict…

If you’re getting a full night of sleep but still waking up exhausted, it’s easy to assume it has nothing to do with your dental health.

But in some cases, it does.

Issues like teeth grinding or airway restrictions can disrupt your sleep without you realizing it. You might not fully wake up during the night, but your body isn’t getting the kind of rest it actually needs.

A lot of people don’t connect those dots because the symptoms show up during the day, not while they’re asleep.

If something feels off and you can’t quite figure out why, it’s worth looking at the full picture, not just one piece of it.

For a lot of people, the hardest part about coming in isn’t the appointment itself. It’s everything leading up to it.

Not knowing what’s going to happen, what you’re going to hear, or how much needs to be done tends to be what keeps people putting it off.

The visit is usually a lot simpler than expected.

We take a look, walk you through what we’re seeing, and answer whatever questions you have. If something needs to be addressed, we’ll explain your options clearly so you can decide how you want to move forward.

There’s no pressure to do everything at once, and no expectation that you already have it all figured out before you walk in.

Most people leave thinking it was a lot easier than they built it up to be.
