Hi guys, did you know, that 80% of us have some sign of periodontal disease, and that not everyone is a healthy mouth that qualifies for those 2 (free)dental cleanings a year. These picture are from an actual patient who has severe bone lose and a lot of buildup and plaque. How do we treat these patients? Good question. Recommendation's would be to do a deep cleaning called scaling and Root planning with gingiva laser to kill the bacteria that attaches to our soft tissue. Does insurance cover this? Most insurance policies do cover this at about an 80% of there contracted fee's. That means a patient would have an out of pocket expense of about 20%. We would perform this type of hygiene visit into 3 visits, First visits would be the upper and lower right side. The second visit would need to be done wit-in 3 weeks of the first visit so that way the bacteria and infected area do not re-contaminate the sterile area. Once both side of the mouth have been completed we do a 6 week re-eval, That is another cleaning to make sure all that hard work to get all the bacteria and build up off and out of your pockets was a success.
