September is National Gum Care Month—a good reminder that caring for your smile means caring for your gums, too. 🦷
One of the most common signs that your gums may need attention is persistent bleeding during brushing or flossing. Healthy gums shouldn’t bleed regularly, and frequent bleeding can be an early indication of inflammation or gum disease.
Redness, swelling, tenderness, persistent bad breath, and changes in the way your gums fit around your teeth are other signs worth paying attention to.
And while it may seem logical to stop flossing an area that bleeds, gentle and consistent cleaning between the teeth is an important part of maintaining gum health.
We’ll be talking more about healthy gums throughout National Gum Care Month. In the meantime, if bleeding has become a regular part of your brushing or flossing routine, bring it up at your next dental visit.
