Is Your Diet Soda Sabotaging Your Smile Investment?

That “sugar‑free” soda might be harder on your veneers and implants than you think. Diet drinks are still highly acidic, thanks to phosphoric and citric acids, which can soften enamel and restorative materials over time.

For cosmetic work, that acid attack shows up in three big ways:
- Veneer edges: Acid slowly weakens the bonding cement, creating tiny gaps that trap stain and bacteria.
- Implant support: Frequent acidic and artificially sweetened drinks aren’t ideal for the jawbone holding your implant.
- Staining and roughness: As surfaces etch and margins open, dark pigments soak in, causing stubborn brown “rings” around white restorations.

If you’ve invested in veneers, crowns, bonding, or implants, protect your smile by:
- Limiting soda and other acidic drinks (even “sugar‑free”).
- Drinking them with meals instead of sipping all day.
