At four months postoperatively, this patient with maxillary osteoradionecrosis secondary to extensive radiation therapy is demonstrating excellent healing following Jaw-in-a-Day free flap reconstruction of the maxilla.
At this follow-up visit, the patient shows favorable healing of the fibula free flap reconstruction with immediate dental implants and immediate implant-supported prosthesis. Adequate healing of the palatal defect and successful removal of necrotic bone associated with osteoradionecrosis.
This case highlights the power of a true interdisciplinary approach in complex maxillary reconstruction, integrating head and neck microvascular surgery, maxillofacial prosthodontics, and implant rehabilitation to restore function and quality of life.
