At four months postoperatively, this patient with maxillary osteoradionecrosis secondary to extensive radiation therapy is demonstrating excellent healing following Jaw-in-a-Day free flap reconstruction of the maxilla.

At this follow-up visit, the patient shows favorable healing of the fibula free flap reconstruction with immediate dental implants and immediate implant-supported prosthesis. Adequate healing of the palatal defect and successful removal of necrotic bone associated with osteoradionecrosis.

This case highlights the power of a true interdisciplinary approach in complex maxillary reconstruction, integrating head and neck microvascular surgery, maxillofacial prosthodontics, and implant rehabilitation to restore function and quality of life. It is always a privilege to share time and knowledge with such dedicated faculty and prosthodontic residents committed to excellence in patient care.

Even more special was ending the day and weekend enjoying quality family time with my wife, Martha, and my daughter Vanessa. Grateful for the balance between teaching, surgery, and family.

Fantastic and productive last Friday teaching day at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry as part of the PostGraduate Prosthodontic Training Program.

The day included surgical placement of implants, photogrammetry with ICAM, uncovering of implants, and multiple prosthetic procedures. It was a very productive Friday, and I truly enjoyed working with the residents and collaborating closely with the faculty.
