Sweeny ISD Families,
After closely monitoring the winter weather system and following guidance from meteorologists and local weather experts, Sweeny ISD has made the decision to cancel school on Monday, January 26, due to the expected frigid weather conditions.

While weather systems can be unpredictable, we wanted to provide our families with as much advance notice as possible. Current forecasts indicate that this weather system is expected to impact our area Sunday and Monday.

At this time, athletic events and practices scheduled for Saturday will continue as planned. All teams will conclude events and return to Sweeny by 4:00 pm on Saturday.

A decision regarding school operations for Tuesday will be communicated on Sunday.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support as we prioritize the safety of our students, staff, and families.

Yesterday we said goodbye to someone who has been so much more than just our boss. Dr. Funk, your kindness, your leadership, and the heart you put into caring for every patient and every member of our team have left a mark that won’t ever fade.

While we’re sad to see you go, we’re also so happy knowing you’re heading back to Utah to be close to the people who matter most, your family.

Dear Friends and Patients,

After several wonderful years serving the Sweeny Community, I want to personally share some news. My Family and I have made the decision to return home to Utah to be closer to our extended family. Leaving Sweeny and this incredible community is bittersweet – it’s been an honor to care for you, laugh with you, and be part of your lives.

While I’ll deeply miss everyone here, I leave knowing you’ll be in excellent hands. Dr. Jared Packard, who many of you have already met over the past year, will be taking over the practice. Dr. Packard brings years of experience from California, and Houston, and has quickly come to love the small-town warmth that makes Sweeny Special.

Dr. Packard and his wife have four children who attend school in nearby Danbury, where they stay busy with sports and community activities. Professionally, Dr. Packard is passionate about creating healthy, confident smiles through cosmetic dentistry and early orthodontic intervention. He’s also deeply committed to addressing oral infection and disease – and takes a proactive approach to ensuring his patients’ overall health and comfort.

Our amazing team at Sweeny Family Dental will remain right here, continuing to care for you with the same familiar faces you’ve come to know. We may even add a few new team members soon to help things run a little more efficiently – but our small-town service and commitment to personalized care will always stay the same.

Thank you for the trust and friendship you’ve shown me and our team. I’ll forever be grateful for the memories and relationships built here. Please join me in welcoming Dr. Packard and his family as they continue to grow Sweeny Family Dental into the next chapter.
