👍🏼That adorable thumb-sucking habit
could cost thousands in braces later...
Most parents think thumb sucking is harmless— and in infants and toddlers, it usually is. But if it continues beyond age 4-5, it can literally reshape a child’s developing mouth. 😦
Over time, the constant pressure can cause:
• An open bite where the front teeth no longer
touch.
• Upper front teeth that stick out A narrow upper jaw and cross bite.
• Speech problems.

Years of orthodontic treatment that may have
been preventable.

💡Here’s the surprising part: it doesn’t take a lot of force-it takes consistent force. Thumb sucking for hours every day can gradually move teeth and even influence jaw growth while a child is developing.

The earlier the habit stops, the better the chance the bite can correct itself naturally. If it persists, your dentist or orthodontist can recommend gentle habit-breaking strategies or an orthodontic appliance.
