The school arranged for me to stay in a humble host home, but I have never seen a place so filled with happiness.
The Guatemalans I’ve met are the happiest, friendliest, and most respectful humans you will ever meet! I love my host family—they have had me laughing all day, especially the little 6-year-old who runs to the door when I enter to give me a big hug and teach me her school lessons. 😊🤣

CT scans work by combining hundreds of X-ray images taken from different angles around the head, neck, or body. To create a clear image, the patient must remain as still as possible throughout the scan.
When a person suddenly sneezes, coughs, or moves, the scanner records the same anatomy in multiple positions. This creates a motion artifact, causing structures such as the skull and jaw to appear duplicated, stretched, or distorted.
These artifacts can make scans difficult to interpret and sometimes require the imaging to be repeated. While the image may look bizarre, it is a powerful reminder of how sensitive medical and dental imaging is to even a fraction of a second of movement.

A Doctor's path and purpose is not an easy one. Can’t pour from an empty cup, and I can’t give strength that I don’t have. It’s become an essential habit for me to wake up early and train.
Who knew the 6:00 am version of me would become my favorite? I have always valued my rest (aka turning over for more sleep), but there is a quiet, restorative magic to the sunrise over the Chattahoochee that just can’t be replicated later in the day. ☀️✨
I didn’t quite hit my 5-mile goal this morning, but I came close—and honestly, the trade-off for these golden moments was worth every step. Trading "sleeping in" for this perspective has been the best shift.
Grateful for the recovery and healing that allows me to continue my Peachtree Road Race training 🌅❤️

This is a tragic reminder that even the smallest items in dentistry can become life-threatening when proper safety protocols are not followed. An air-water syringe tip should NEVER become a foreign body aspiration emergency.
In this case, the tip detached, was inhaled by the patient, and became lodged in the lung requiring medical intervention 🤯
As dental professionals, we must slow down and remember:
• Always check that disposable tips are fully seated and locked in place
• Never assume a tip is secure without testing it
• Assistants and doctors BOTH share responsibility for patient safety
• One second of prevention can prevent a medical emergency
