As the summer season comes to an end, and kids go back to school, it’s time to prepare for the upcoming cold & flu season. While our physical health and recovery are usually the primary focus when we get sick, our oral health may need some extra help during this time as well! Sinus decongestants can cause dry mouth, leading to some unpleasant oral health symptoms when sick. Here are some dental tips from Dr. Alina that may help you keep on track with your oral health if you get down with a bug!

Stay healthy everyone!

One of our favorite things about a beautifully designed dental implant restoration is that it should look like it has always belonged there.
For this patient, we restored the missing tooth with careful attention to shape, shade, proportion, and the surrounding smile to create a natural-looking result that blends beautifully with their existing teeth.

Your dental appointment is about more than checking for cavities! Your mouth is part of your body, and your oral health can provide important clues about your overall wellness.

Research continues to explore connections between oral inflammation, periodontal disease, and health conditions throughout the body. That is one of the many reasons routine dental care matters, even when nothing hurts.

At Dunes Dental Services, we believe in looking beyond individual teeth. We pay attention to your gums, oral tissues, medical history, changes in your health, and the overall picture so we can provide care personalized to you.

Prevention is always easier when we catch concerns early. Take care of your smile. You may be taking care of much more than you realize. 🤍

Your oral health is about so much more than your teeth!

A recent Wall Street Journal article highlights growing research into the connection between oral bacteria, inflammation, HEART health and even COGNITIVE health.

It’s another reminder that taking care of your mouth is an important part of taking care of your WHOLE body. Regular cleanings, good home care and addressing dental problems early can have benefits that go far beyond your smile.

Please give us a call at (843)215-2140 to schedule your next appointment!

As scientists link oral bacteria to heart disease and cognitive decline, a push is under way to treat the mouth as a source of bodywide inflammation
