I am concern about the news of a Dental Office in California.
This Dental Office caused health issues on their patients because they failed to maintain and keep the water lines clean.
PATIENTS, feel free to ask your dentist or the staff how do they clean the water lines.
Dental Offices can prevent this situation following simple steps:
If they are using Municipal water, they have to flush the water lines daily.
If they have bottle system, still they have to flush the lines.

Personally I use the bottle system, we use distilled water in combination with Denta Pure System (delivers uninterrupted water treatment to dental waterlines).
Personally, I clean the water lines myself, because I want to make sure their clean.
At least make sure your dentist and the staff take the OSHA and Infection Control course every year.
At last, patient safety and responsibility falls on your dentist.

Do you have a family relative, friend or neighbor living in a nursing home because of a disability, mental disease or simple… too old to take care of themselves?
Do you know that is mandatory by law under any state to provide dental care in a nursing home facility in-site or off-site? The answer is Yes.
However, you need to contact the state in which you reside. Every state has a different stature and codes.
Next time you visit someone in a nursing home, feel free to ask the nursing home manager, which dentist provides the services if they are not in the facility. You can go further and ask them to show proof that they provided these services or they referred the patient out of the facility.
For those Dental Colleague reading this post. You might think?... those patients are too difficult to treat or maybe there is no money in with this patient.
However the satisfaction is incredible. Try to provide dental services to one or two patients per month; it will make a difference.
At last, you never know if you will be in a nursing home few years further in life.
Please feel free to share this thought.

Why do I have to go to the dentist every 6 months?
It is simple:
A- Oral Cancer Screening-make sure that you did not develop any
oral disease, especially if you smoke.
B- Make sure that you did not break any existing restoration, or
have new cavities.
C- If you are clenching your teeth, you might be losing enamel
structure and causing gingival recession,
which can cause teeth sensitivity. People these days have
more stress, so they clench their teeth more often.
D- If you are diabetic, you increase the chance of developing gum
disease if you do not see your dentist too often.
E- If you have Dental Insurance, they mostly cover at 100% two
periodic exams and two cleanings per year.
Take the advantage!
