Yesterday, after we finished our morning Jail Dental Clinic at RSW Front Royal, we arrived at our jail clinic in Orange, Virginia where we met a young lady inmate, who was quite hilarious!
Even though she was feeling a bit nervous and apprehensive, facing the prospect of having to lose her tooth, she kept her spirits up, as she kept us cracking up, from the moment that she first sat in the chair, til she left! 🤣 (She also happened to be 6’4” tall, so we talked about that anomaly first, as an ice-breaker). Anyway, she was cracking jokes the whole time, and so were we! Just people enjoying some back and forth banter.

After Terry got her numb and she was resting, (‘comfortably numb’-haha) prior to her extractions, he decided to check on a patient he was waiting to hear back from, to see if we needed to meet her at our office on the drive home, and also, maybe he’d have time to play one round of the “Candy Crush” game on his phone, just to kill some time (only a few minutes) in order to let the lidocaine set in, so it could ‘do it’s thing’ before we could start, as standard procedure….

This quick witted, hilarious inmate/patient of ours looked over at him, saw him on his phone, and asked him if he was “Googling the best way to get her tooth out”!!!🤣 OMG, We all just erupted in laughter! Doctor B gave her props and high praise regarding her humor skills. He said, “I like this one a lot, she’s hilarious!” I agreed.

Good moments like these remind us why we’re here, and why we love doing these clinics, and they help to keep things light, as we work in an often ‘dreary’ jail setting.
Laughter is the best medicine, they say.
It definitely doesn’t hurt! 🤗

I was grateful to have witnessed this lively interaction/exchange, and I’m grateful every day to be able to help people, and do what we love to do together, side-by-side in our family dental business.❤️
*Today, Dr. Butterfield and his daughter, our assistant (Mariah) finished up this week’s rounds of bi-monthly Jail Clinic visits in Wi******er.

The whole month of May is designated
“National Military Appreciation Month”.

As you look forward to time off work, spending time with family and barbecue cookouts, please take a moment to remember our fallen, this Memorial Day weekend.

MEMORIAL DAY
-When:
Always the last Monday in May
-What it celebrates:
Unlike Armed Forces Day (for current troops) or Veterans Day (in November, for living former service members), Memorial Day is a solemn federal holiday specifically dedicated to honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military.

A Quick Tip on the Big Three:
If you ever get confused about who to thank when, remember this common military adage:
* Armed Forces Day is for those who currently wear the uniform.
* Veterans Day (in November) is for those who used to wear the uniform.
* Memorial Day is for those who died wearing the uniform.

Be safe, and may we never forget the cost of freedom, and the ones who gave all to preserve it.

Today we kicked off Strasburg’s Mayfest festival weekend, with the “Heels and Hops Luncheon”, held at the one and only, ‘Box Office Brewery’!
A fun time was had by all—Great food and drink, kings and queens, and being surrounded by some amazing people!
As if that wasn’t fun enough, guess what!!?
Dr.Butterfield’s wife (Cindi) actually WON the heels part of the contest!
(She’s only been trying for the last 5 years😆🤷🏼‍♀️)

Thank you Strasburg Mayfest Committee, for putting on one of our favorite Mayfest traditions! And thank you Box Office Brewery for hosting, and for the prizes!
