Dear Patients,

Great news! The American Dental Association has confirmed that office visits beyond emergency care are now allowed. As we are very excited to resume patient care beginning June 1, this letter to make you aware of some key workflow changes and new protocol our office has adopted in order to provide a heightened level of safety at each stage of patient care.

To summarize:

Scheduling

- Patients will be pre-screened for Covid-19 prior to scheduling, prior to their dental appointment and upon arrival. Temperatures will be taken.

- We ask that patients call us from their car when they arrive and we will let them know when to enter into the office. This allows patients to be seated directly into a treatment room. Masks are required to enter and exit.

- There will be enough time allowed for appointments to ensure no significant overlap between patients as to allow for social distancing That might mean that you are offered fewer appointment time options.

- No families / guests / companions are permitted in the treatment rooms or reception area, unless medically necessary (patients with special needs, elderly patients, etc) or patients under 18 years old.

-Please arrive 10 minutes early to ensure appointments do not overlap.

Infection Control

- We have outfitted our office with plexiglass barriers and will have HEPA filters running throughout the day. All surfaces and dental chairs will be cleaned, disinfected and sanitized thoroughly. We will use the highest level of PPE available for everyone’s protection and safety and will continue to monitor universal precautions and guidelines set forth by the American Dental Association (ADA), the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) on a daily basis and will refine best practices as we proceed. SAFETY is our primary concern!

Dear Patient:

We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health. Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety.

Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice and you may have seen this during your visits to our office. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, it’s both safe and comfortable. We want to tell you about the infection control procedures we follow in our practice to keep patients and staff safe.

Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to each agencies’ recommendations.

You may see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We made these changes to help protect our patients and staff. For example:

• Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions. You’ll be asked those same questions again when you are in the office.
• We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use when you enter the office. You will also find some in the reception area and other places in the office for you to use as needed.
• You may see that our waiting room will no longer offer magazines, children’s toys and so forth, since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect.
• Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that you’re offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment.
• We will do our best to allow greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.

Although we have not been given a start date for routine appointments, the office is available for emergency care. We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice.

Dear Patient,

I am contacting you about COVID-19 and the potential impacts in health and safety of those I care for and care about.

Consistent with recommendations from federal, state and local health organizations, my office is now closed for routine patient care. All appointments will be canceled for the next 2 weeks, or longer depending on the state of affairs. Should you have questions about your dental care or an emergency during this period of time, please leave a message on the office voicemail which will regularly monitored (908-647-6220) or email me at [email protected] and I will get back to you. Emergency issues will be handled on an individual basis depending on the circumstances at the time.
