I think we've made full mouth rehabilitation more intimidating than it needs to be.

There's a common belief that you either already know how to handle these cases because you're a restorative dentist, or you need years of advanced training before you're ready to take one on.

I disagree with both.

There are absolutely clinical skills that need to be developed. Understanding vertical dimension, managing occlusion, preparing and provisionalizing an entire arch, and maintaining control throughout treatment all require training and experience.

But I think one of the biggest gaps in FMR education is that we spend so much time learning individual techniques without always understanding how they fit together.

When you're managing an entire mouth, you need more than a collection of clinical skills. You need a system that helps you make decisions in the right order and maintain control of the case from beginning to end.

I don't believe FMR is easy. I believe it can be simplified when you have the right framework.
