Does your New Year's resolution involve visiting the dentist more and taking better care of your smile? If so, we've got your back with a few simple tips to help you maximize your dental benefits this year!

As you probably know, with the new year comes your newest bundle of dental insurance benefits. A defined benefit amount is given at the beginning of every year. And, if you don't use it, you lose it at the end of the year.

To avoid this, make sure you plan ahead! All it takes is a little extra planning to make sure you don't lose a single dollar.

Here are four simple steps to help you capture ALL of your benefits this year:

1. Schedule your first cleaning some time in the first three months of the year.
2. If you need a floor-up procedure, be sure to schedule it earlier in the year instead of putting it off.
3. Speak with your dentist about procedures that require wait times in between the work so you can plan accordingly.
4. Don't forget to schedule your second cleaning!

Start the year off early and work with your dentist to develop a solid plan of action so you don't leave any money on the table when it comes to your dental insurance benefits.

Drinking Straw Day is celebrated on January 3 every year, the day Marvin Chester was awarded a patent for his innovation, i.e., the paper drinking straw. Imagine a world without straws. Sounds horrible, right? We often don’t realize this, but drinking straws have made our lives a lot easier, allowing us access to the bottom of the juice jar first, where all the good stuff lies. Drinking with a straw is much less messy, and we can take our time sipping leisurely.
