Sometimes, placing the implant is only the beginning. Protecting the bone and tissue around it is what determines its future.

This patient came to us after having dental implants placed in Colombia. During our evaluation, we discovered a significant concern: four of the implants had severe bone loss, with approximately 80% of their supporting bone already gone.

At this stage, our priority is to control the infection and inflammation around the implants and determine what can realistically be preserved.

We are using LifeTouch® laser technology for implant decontamination, carefully treating the affected areas and reducing the bacterial burden around the implant surfaces as part of our attempt to create a healthier environment for healing.

Cases like this are a reminder that implant dentistry doesn’t end when the implants are placed. Long-term maintenance, proper diagnosis, healthy bone and gums, and routine professional evaluation are essential.

Our goal is not simply to treat what we see today—it is to protect the foundation of the patient’s smile for the years ahead.

The final porcelain hasn’t even been made yet… and that’s exactly the point.

Before we give our laboratory approval to move from the prototype to the final restoration, Dr. Romani reviews the case one more time detail by detail.

The midline.
Tooth length and proportions.

Phonetics.
Texture.
Translucency.
Even the way each individual tooth should reflect light.

The prototype gives us the opportunity to study the smile in the patient’s face, make precise adjustments, and communicate those details directly to our laboratory before the final porcelain is created.
