When the baby tooth doesn’t fall out on time, the permanent one has no choice but to push forward and that’s when the famous “shark teeth” appear.

It’s not an immediate emergency. But it does need to be evaluated.

At HCC Dentistry we check whether the baby tooth needs a little help coming out or whether the process can continue on its own without any intervention.

The sooner we see it, the simpler the solution.

What your child eats and drinks today decides how their teeth look tomorrow.

A healthy tooth and a cavity-covered one aren’t just good or bad luck. They’re the result of what goes in every day the foods that strengthen enamel and the ones that quietly erode it before anyone notices.

The good news: when diet falls short, we have tools to protect your child’s teeth before the damage goes further.

Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF) stops active cavities without a drill. Dental sealants create a protective barrier over molars exactly where kids accumulate the most plaque. And a preventive checkup lets us catch damage early, when it’s still simple and affordable to treat.

It’s not about perfect teeth.
It’s about protecting them at the right time.

If your child isn’t flossing, half their mouth isn’t being cleaned.

That simple.

A toothbrush can’t reach the spaces between teeth and that’s exactly where bacteria build up, produce acid, and form cavities nobody notices until the next dental visit.

The good news: it doesn’t have to be traditional floss. Kids’ interdental picks do the job in seconds and most children accept them much more easily.

Start today. Tonight. Before bed.

What would you do if your child came running with a tooth in their hand?

Most parents don’t know the answer — and that can cost their child the tooth.

This carousel covers the 3 most common dental emergencies in kids: the tooth knocked out by a hit, shark teeth, and the abscess that looks like “just a toothache.”

Swipe through, save it, and hopefully never need it. ➡️

The toothbrush you grab off the shelf without checking the label might be damaging your child’s teeth without you realizing it.

Not an exaggeration. Wrong bristles erode enamel. Wrong size leaves areas uncleaned. And the wrong type for their age means brushing does almost nothing — even if it lasts two full minutes.

Swipe to see exactly which toothbrush your child needs right now. ➡️

Most parents are doing something wrong with their child’s dental hygiene — and it’s not for lack of trying.

It’s because nobody explained the details that actually matter: when to stop rinsing, which foods are worse than candy, why bedtime brushing matters more than the morning one.

This carousel has the practical tips we share with every family at the office. No jargon. No guilt. Just information you can use today.

Pacifiers, bottles, or thumbsucking... when does a comforting habit start affecting your child’s smile? 🍼👶

Sucking is a completely normal, soothing reflex for babies and toddlers. But as their jaws and teeth grow, prolonged sucking habits past age 2 to 3 can start reshaping their palate and bite alignment.

Continued pressure over time can lead to:

🦷 Open bites: Front teeth don’t touch when the mouth is closed.

🦷 Flared front teeth: Pushed forward and more prone to accidental chips.

🦷 Narrowed palate: Which can impact speech development and airway growth.

Take a deep breath—there’s zero judgment here! Before ages 3–4, many of these subtle changes naturally self-correct once the habit stops. As a mom of four, I know phasing out the paci or nighttime bottle is a journey that requires gentle patience, not pressure.

Swipe through for our parent guide and save this post for later! Wondering how your child’s bite is developing? We’d love to take a look. Tap the link in our bio to book a stress-free checkup! 📲💚
