Implant dentistry is more than just placing an implant — prosthetic design matters just as much as surgical placement.
This patient presented to our clinic with an implant that had developed bone loss due to an over-contoured crown at the implant connection, creating an area for bacteria to accumulate around the implant surface. Proper emergence of the abutment is critical for tissue health and long-term stability.
Treatment included removing the crown, bone grafting around the implant, and fabricating a new, properly contoured restoration.
