April is Oral Cancer Awareness Month 🦷🖤

Oral cancer is more common than many people realize. In the U.S., over 60,000 people are diagnosed each year and more than 13,000 lose their lives to this disease. Even more importantly, the 5-year survival rate is around 68%—but it increases significantly when caught early. (American Cancer Society)

That’s why awareness and early detection matter so much.

🚩 Red flags to watch for:
• A sore in the mouth that doesn’t heal
• Red or white patches on the gums, tongue, or cheeks
• Lumps, swelling, or unusual thickening
• Persistent mouth or throat pain
• Difficulty chewing, swallowing, or speaking
• Unexplained bleeding in the mouth (CDC)

These symptoms can be easy to overlook—but they should never be ignored.
