Does your child need Phase one, Interceptive, or Early Orthodontic Treatment?
Parents are often concerned about crooked teeth, spacing, or bite issues in their young children and want to know when to do something about it. While there is no wrong answer to the question of when a child could be seen by an orthodontist for the first time, we like to use the phrase "Eight is great". By eight years and older, there is usually sufficient data available to identify developing orthodontic problems. At Weaver Orthodontics, our goals when treating children early (before all the adult teeth have erupted) are to target specific objectives of space loss, crowding, and/or traumatic bite problems, and correct those problems in a timely manner. It is important to minimize the duration of phase one treatment because in many cases children treated early will eventually require comprehensive orthodontic treatment when they grow into their full adult teeth a few years later. Therefore, timing the most efficient age to accomplish the early phase goals is of prime importance. Now that school is out for the summer it's a great time to schedule a free consultation to address any orthodontic concerns you may have.
