I’ve been coming to Lake Tulloch for more than 20 years, and every single time I come across a bald eagle, I’m still amazed that I get to see one. They are such incredible birds, and seeing one never gets old.

I feel pretty lucky to have spent so many years enjoying this place. There’s just something special about this area and all the wildlife you can come across here.

I came across this Western Grebe feeding its baby a fish on Lake Tulloch last weekend. It’s funny how you don’t always appreciate how beautiful the wildlife around us is until you slow down and take the time to really enjoy nature. I love this area and all it has to offer. There’s always something special to see right here in our own backyard.

Back in 2023, we had planned a trip to Lassen Volcanic National Park, but an avalanche had most of the park closed. We decided to head over to McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park instead, and I'm so glad we did. I was completely blown away by how beautiful Burney Falls was.

Moments like this are a great reminder of how lucky we are to live in this part of California. There are so many incredible places to explore right here in our own backyard.

I'm really hoping to make it back to Burney Falls again this year.
