I’ve been so blessed in my professional life to be the director of the Somerset Study Club. My father and I started the club over 30 years ago, and I’m fortunate now that my son, Gabriel, is an active member as well. Some of our members have been there since day 1. With our tireless coordinator, Joanna, by my side, we concluded the academic year with a social outing at the Somerset Patriot’s game. The Patriot’s won, and a good time was had by all.

I was honored at the Central Dental Society meeting this week with "Life Membership" recognition. Presenting the award were New Jersey Dental Association President, Dr. Lou Ghisalberti, and NJDA President-Elect, Dr. Peter DeSciscio. I am a proud past-president of the CDS, which serves as our local branch of the NJDA.

National Dentists Day! Our office specializes in Periodontics and Dental Implants, but we have terrific working relationships with many local dentists. I have been the director of the Somerset Study Club for over twenty years. The Club's mission has been to forge camaraderie and interdisciplinary relationships between our members to benefit patients, while providing top-notch continuing education. It has been some of my most gratifying work. Patient care and well-being is our top priority! I salute our members and my fellow dentists.

These have been trying times, but I am humbled and honored once again to be chosen by my peers. My father established our practice over fifty years ago, and I carry-on his commitment to serve our patients with excellence.

Dear Patients:

We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health! Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and we are all looking forward to resuming our “normal” habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety.

Infection control has always been a priority for our practice. Protocols are in place so that when you receive care at Cornick Family Periodontics, it is both safe and comfortable. We want to explain the additional and improved infection control procedures we will be implementing to keep patients and staff protected.

Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We closely monitor these agency’s updates so that we are aware of any new guidance they may issue.

Our new procedures will be applied immediately to protect our patients and staff. For example:

• Our staff will ask screening questions when you schedule your appointment. These questions will be repeated prior to your entering the building.
• We respectfully request that you call us from your vehicle to let us know that you have arrived, and remain there until we call you. That way, we can usher you directly to the treatment room.
• We ask that you wear a mask upon entering the building, and keep it on until you are seated in the treatment room. If you do not have a face mask we will gladly provide one.
• Patients will have their temperatures taken before entering the building. Any temperature over 100.4F will result in the appointment being rescheduled.
• We will ask you to apply hand sanitizer after you have entered the building. Additionally, there will be some available throughout the office.
• Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients.

We have invested in PPE, plexiglass partitions at the reception desk, air purifiers for all treatment rooms, waiting room/reception area, extra-oral suction systems, as well as air-quality monitors.

Although we have been seeing emergency patients during this crisis, our office will officially re-open Monday, June 8. You are welcome to contact us regarding any of the new protocols we have established to keep you, our valued patient, safe in our practice.

To make an appointment,
please call our office at 908-526-0545.

Thank you for trusting us with your dental care. We look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbors and friends!

Sincerely,

Dr. Peter Cornick and the Cornick Family Periodontics Team

In an effort to support national recommendations to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, our practice is taking the following steps to help assure your health and well-being and that of our community:

1. We are following directives from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as a way to limit patient and staff exposure to the virus.
2. Your health, and the health of our dedicated staff, matters to us, so going forward we will suspend all non-emergency care until April 6th but this date could change based on the recommendations of the American Dental Association (ADA).
3. Patients will be seen only for urgent and emergency dental needs (such as pain and/or swelling).

In the event that you receive a confirmation reminder or reschedule request from our automated system, please disregard. We will contact you soon to reschedule routine hygiene appointments.

In the event that you are scheduled for an urgent issue, we will contact you the day before your appointment to discuss your health status, health screening protocols and confirm whether the appointment should be kept. Of course, please call us right away if you have a dental emergency or need immediate care.

The safety and well-being of our patients continues to be our primary concern. We will continue to monitor the status of COVID-19 nationally and within our community and keep you up to date regarding our plans to reopen for business.

I urge you to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. We can be reached by phone at (909)526-0545, email at [email protected], or here directly on Facebook and we will respond as soon as we can.

Thank you and stay well!
