Dental bridge: A restoration that spans the gap using the teeth on either side as anchors. No surgery required, typically faster, and a good option when implants aren't the right fit.

Dental implant: A titanium post placed in the jawbone that acts as a permanent tooth root. It preserves bone, looks completely natural, and doesn't affect neighboring teeth. The gold standard for tooth replacement.

Neither is universally "better" — the right choice depends on your bone health, your timeline, your budget, and your overall dental picture.

Severe tooth wear is more common than most people realize, and it often develops gradually before becoming noticeable. The good news? Catching it early makes all the difference.

Here's what we look for:

We get this question a lot: "Do I really need an electric toothbrush?"

Honest answer: the best toothbrush is the one you'll actually use correctly.

That said, electric toothbrushes do have a real edge. They're more effective at removing plaque, especially along the gumline, and they do a lot of the work for you. For patients with arthritis, limited dexterity, or a tendency to brush too hard, they're genuinely worth it.

If you're brushing with a manual brush for two full minutes, twice a day, with good technique? You're doing great.

Dry mouth might seem like a minor annoyance, but it's actually one of the bigger risk factors for tooth decay that we see in our patients.

Saliva does a lot of work — it neutralizes acids, washes away bacteria, and helps remineralize your enamel. When you don't have enough of it, cavities can develop faster than you'd expect.

Common causes include:
• Certain medications (antihistamines, antidepressants, blood pressure meds)
• Mouth breathing, especially during sleep
• Dehydration
• Stress

Gum disease (periodontal disease) is one of the most common — and most overlooked — health issues in adults. It often starts without pain, but over time it can lead to gum recession, bone loss, and tooth loss.

There's also a well-documented connection between gum disease and whole-body health, including heart health and blood sugar. Your mouth is more connected to your overall wellness than most people realize.

Dental emergencies don't wait for a convenient time.

A knocked-out tooth, a cracked crown, sudden severe pain — these things happen, and knowing what to do in the moment matters.

A few things to keep in mind:

• Knocked-out tooth: Keep it moist (in milk or between your cheek and gum) and call us immediately. Time is critical.
• Cracked or broken tooth: Rinse with warm water, avoid chewing on that side, and call us.
• Severe toothache: Don't ignore it. Pain that doesn't go away is your body telling you something needs attention.
• Lost crown or filling: Temporary dental cement from a pharmacy can help short-term — but get in to see us soon.

We do our best to accommodate dental emergencies quickly. If you're in pain, call us. We'll take care of you.
