aws into proper alignment, and give them something to really smile about. www.SchwartzKidsDentistry.com

We will coach your children to become members of the cavity free generation. The entire team in the office will encourage your child to be a trusting, great helper, and will help guide your child to only have the best attitude about going to the dentist. Follow these steps to keep your child cavity free:

• VISIT the dentist every 6 MONTHS for a full examination, cleaning and professional fluoride treatment.

• FLUORIDE THERAPY: Children aged 16 may need to take a fluoride supplement as prescribed by their pediatric dentist.

• BRUSH TEETH TWICE DAILY: Children aged 6 and under do not have the dexterity to properly brush their teeth on their own – parents should allow the child to brush, and then go over all surfaces of all teeth themselves to ensure a proper cleaning.

• FLOSS: Children should floss between all teeth at least once per day. Again, children aged 6 and under will need assistance from a parent.

• INFANTS & TODDLERS: Infants and toddlers need to have their teeth cleaned as well. Parents can use an infant toothbrush to clean all teeth that are present in the mouth. Teach your child to learn to spit so he/she can switch to fluoride toothpaste.

• SEAL PERMANENT MOLARS: dental sealants help prevent cavities in the deep groves of permanent molars; sealants on primary molars (baby molars) can help prevent decay, too.

• AVOID SUGARY/ACIDIC DRINKS:
o Sports Drinks
o Energy Drinks
o Soda
o Iced Tea
o Juice
o Sticky, chewy candies

• WATER should always be the first choice for drinking

• EAT HEALTHY FOODS fruits and vegetables every day

Long post but please read.

We’ve recently received several calls from families asking whether my office is planning to “drop all insurances” or transition to a concierge model.

I wanted to personally address this because the information being shared is simply not true. Not sure who is posting this information, but can't help to think that newly aquired offices in our community by private equity firms and non-present dentist owners are trying their best to stoke division/fear. Ultimately, they could care less about our community.

Schwartz Dentistry for Children is NOT transitioning to a concierge model, and in-fact I am currently actively working to remain in-network with insurance providers, by working to re-negotiate reimbursement rates. It's not easy to do so.

Like many independent healthcare offices, we continue to face rising costs in staffing, supplies, equipment, and day-to-day operations, while reimbursement rates from most insurance companies have remained largely unchanged for years. For example, Delta Dental hasn't raised my reimbursement rates since COVID. In fact, they've only decreased my fees! Similarly, BCBS "does not negotiate with doctors". So, we are at their mercy. Even with these challenges, my priority has always been to keep high-quality pediatric dental care accessible for local families.

As a privately owned, doctor-operated office, I care deeply about being present for my patients and maintaining long-term relationships within the community we serve. While many healthcare offices are moving toward corporate ownership or non-present ownership models, I remain committed to independence, while providing personal, relationship-based care.

I understand there may be confusion because of conversations happening online or elsewhere, but I want our families to hear directly from me:

We are NOT becoming a concierge office by dropping every insurance.
And we remain committed to serving our community.

Thank you to everyone who reached out directly to ask questions and support our office. Your trust truly means the world to us.

If you ever have questions about our practice, please feel free to contact us directly so we can provide accurate information.

ALSO, Stay tuned for a new membership plan for families without dental insurance! It will start this summer. More information will be released soon!
THANK YOU!

Schwartz Dentistry for Children is proud to remain independent, privately owned, and operated by a board-certified pediatric dentist (me!). Our focus is, and always will be, on thoughtful, personalized care for your child.

My greatest concern with the private equity model in dentistry is that the doctors are told, by the private equity group), not to tell their patients about new entity/ownership. Why the veil of secrecy?

If this matters to you, ask questions. Stay informed. And help spread the word.

It’s quietly reshaping Main Street medicine. Your wallet—and health—might suffer as a result.

Hope you all had a terrific Halloween! Remember, the order of snacking/eating candy can make a BIG difference for our teeth! A piece of candy BEFORE a major meal is BETTER than after a major meal. Let the major meal wash the candy away.
If I were a tooth, my arch nemesis would be the sour candies. I'd be 'tolerant' of hanging out with chocolate. I'd actually be friends with sugar-free gum. : )

🚨 PLEASE READ: A Message to Our Patients and Followers 🚨

There’s a growing trend in dentistry that you deserve to know about: Many dental offices—including pediatric dental offices near and far—are QUIETLY being sold to private equity firms, under the label of Dental Support Organizations (DSOs).

Here’s the catch: when these sales happen, patients are rarely told. Patients (or parents of patients) are kept in the dark by design. Everything on the surface appears to stay the same—same name, same faces—but behind the scenes, things change. The heart of the practice shifts from patient-centered care to cold, profit-driven production. The ethos of the original practice fundamentally changes. That’s the reality of most private equity models in any business. Here is why... DSOs aren’t in it for the long haul. They aren't committed to the patient. Their goal? Flip the practice for profit, usually to another DSO. And that cycle continues. Patients lose on so many levels, bankers win. The office will never likely see a dentist owning the practice ever again.

I’m not here to judge the doctors who choose to sell. Every situation is personal. But I firmly believe that you, the patient, have a right to know when these changes happen. Transparency matters. The integrity of dentistry matters.

If your dental home has changed hands, you deserve to know what that means—for you, your child, for your long-term care moving forward. Ask your dentist if their practice is managed by a DSO. Hopefully, they don’t “lie through their teeth” 😉. What's there to hide?

My office is PROUD to remain independent and committed to our Smyrna, Vinings, Marietta, and Atlanta, and Metro-Atlanta communities.
Say No to the DSO. Say Yes to transparency and independence.
Happy summer to all of you!
