Dr. Laura Cardenas was born and raised in Colombia, South America. She attended dental school at Instituto de la Salud CES. For her last semester of dental school, she was chosen by the Dean of the dental school to study at the University of Gothemburg in Sweden where she spent 4 months in the oral medicine, oral surgery, and periodontics departments. Dr. Cardenas did her specialty training at the
University of Illinois at Chicago where she received a Certificate in Periodontics. She then moved to Washington where she has been practicing Periodontics since. Dr. Cardenas is a diplomat of the American Board of Periodontology , a diplomate is a periodontist who has made a significant achievement beyond mandatory educational requirements of the specialty and certified by the American Board of Periodontology. Dr. Cardenas is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, Academy of Osseointegration, American Dental Association , Washington State Dental Association, and Kitsap County Dental Society. She also co-leads two Spear Study Clubs with a small groups of peers that meet locally to improve their clinical expertise.
