A little honesty—and a request for grace—as we prepare our year-end mailing! 💌

One of my goals for 2026 (we started this last summer) was to clean up and update Compassionate Care’s donor and mailing lists. I’m not sure they’ve ever had a complete overhaul since we opened, and last year’s switch to QuickBooks Online made an already big project even more chaotic. Biggest headache of my life? It’s definitely a contender! 😂

Over the years, people move, names change, families experience divorce or lose loved ones, and some people ask to come off the list. Keeping all of that accurate is a gigantic job, and I’ll be honest: I haven’t had the time to give it the attention it needs.

So, if our 2026 mailing brings you multiple copies of our year-end letter, an incorrect name, or an outdated address, please know it isn’t intentional. If a letter arrives addressed to a loved one who has passed away, I’m especially sorry for any hurt that may cause.

This project is officially on my 2027 goal list—with the understanding that it may stretch into 2028! The plan is to work through duplicates, correct names and spellings, update addresses, and get everything organized before adding more to the mix.

We also have exciting things ahead: a new website and a new fundraiser are in the works! We’re working to get everything updated and organized as we head into this next chapter. There’s a lot happening behind the scenes, and I truly believe 2027 is going to be amazing! 🎉

💙🩺 WE’RE GROWING… AND WE’RE HIRING! 🩺💙

Compassionate Care of Shelby County is bursting at the seams with patients! While we absolutely LOVE being able to help more people in our community, it’s also heartbreaking to see just how many individuals are going without basic medical care, dental care, and even life-saving prescriptions.

The need is growing, and so is our team!

We are looking for a compassionate, dependable, motivated, and organized individual who wants to make a REAL difference in the lives of others.

🩺 What would you be doing?

* Assisting with patient care, including vital signs, medical histories, and blood draws
* Helping with front desk responsibilities, scheduling, and patient records
* Assisting with medical and dental patients
* Keeping things organized in a busy, fast-paced clinic
* Most importantly, treating every patient with kindness, patience, dignity, and compassion

💙 Don’t check every box? That’s okay!

We are willing to train the right person! While medical experience is a plus, we’re looking for someone who is eager to learn, comfortable working in both medical and dental settings, takes initiative, and genuinely CARES about the people walking through our doors.

We’re a small team doing BIG things, and we need someone who isn’t afraid to jump in, wear a few different hats, and help wherever needed!

At Compassionate Care, this isn’t just a job. It’s an opportunity to be part of something bigger than yourself.

🍂 What a special day at the Autumn Leaves Luncheon! 🍎

Thank you so much for allowing me the opportunity to speak at this year’s luncheon. It was especially meaningful to be there while honoring my Grandma, Jinny Shreves, along with Jan Elsass and Nancy Smith, and recognizing the incredible work these women did in creating the famous Apple Dumpling Fundraiser and Autumn Leaves Luncheon.

What they started has become such a wonderful tradition—bringing people together while raising funds to support local organizations, missions, and causes like Compassionate Care.

I’m incredibly proud of the legacy my Grandma and these amazing women helped create. ❤️ Their hard work, generosity, and heart for helping others continue to make a difference in our community today.

Thank you to everyone who has carried on this
beautiful tradition and to everyone who continues to support it year after year. 🍂

🎀 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

This month, Compassionate Care reminds every woman in our community: your health matters, and early detection matters.

Don’t put off your mammogram or ignore changes in your breast health. A lump, change in size or shape, skin changes, ni**le changes, or anything that simply doesn’t feel normal for you is worth getting checked.

For women who are uninsured or underinsured, the cost of healthcare should never be the reason you go without important screenings or follow-up care. Compassionate Care is here to help connect eligible patients with the care and resources they need.

Take care of yourself. Encourage the women you love to do the same. And please — don’t wait until something feels wrong to make your health a priority. 💗

We truly appreciate the opportunity to share our mission, connect with local employees, and spread the word about the resources available to those who need them.

And a special thank you to the Shelby County United Way for organizing these visits and continuing to bring local organizations and businesses together. We are so grateful for your partnership and support of our community!

Side Note: I felt a TAD more comfortable speaking in front of people. It’s only taken me 14 years- But it was still only a tad-lol!
