We welcome patients of all ages! In fact, we’ve had the privilege of treating individuals ranging from 4 to 84 years old. Treatment is always tailored to each individual’s unique needs, concerns, and goals.

Our friend here came in for an evaluation to assess his growth and development and create a personalized roadmap for when treatment may be needed and what type of treatment would benefit him most.

So, what exactly are we looking at during an orthodontic exam? 🦷

We evaluate:

How the jaws are developing

How the teeth and bite are coming together

If there are any missing or extra teeth

Potential future crowding or spacing

How severe any developing concerns may be

And, most importantly, when the timing is right to intervene—if treatment is needed at all

Early evaluation doesn’t always mean early treatment. Sometimes, the best plan is simply to monitor growth and development until the ideal time for treatment.

Balanced, functional, and healthy bites are influenced by how the teeth are positioned within the bone and how they relate to the surrounding teeth. Establishing a strong foundation with orthodontic treatment at a young age is ideal; however, it is never too late to take steps toward preventing future dental issues. As they say, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!

While orthodontics is our primary focus, we also have a strong interest in dental sleep medicine. We have restored many smiles affected by long-term sleep appliance use, where changes in tooth position and the bite have occurred over time.

This is also why Dr. Elias completed a year-long mini-residency at the University of Michigan, gaining a deeper understanding of how dentists can play an important role in improving sleep and, ultimately, improving aspects of overall quality of life that are often viewed solely as medical concerns (all done in collaboration with your sleep physician)

We believe it is important to look at the bigger picture—including how your facial bone structure, airway, and bite may contribute to sleep-disordered breathing and sleep apnea. By considering these factors together, we can help patients better understand their options and work toward solutions that support both a healthy bite and better sleep.
