Nothing makes you feel more like an adult than using PTO just to get your teeth cleaned.

Seriously... you finally get a full-time job, start earning decent money, get benefits, do all the “responsible adult” stuff...

And then every doctor, dentist, bank, DMV office, repair shop, school meeting and random appointment seems to happen during the exact hours you’re supposed to be at work.

So now you’re burning vacation time to sit in a waiting room at 10:30 on a Tuesday.

Very glamorous.

I know this is just part of having a normal job, but whoever designed this system clearly assumed nobody would ever need to do anything between 9 and 5.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! 🩷

The fight against Breast Cancer touches us all, including our own dental family here at Malia Fredrickson, DDS.

Did You Know?

🩷 1 in 8 women in the United States will develop breast cancer during their lifetime.

🩷 In 2026, an estimated 382,640 women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer, including invasive and noninvasive cases.

🩷 Breast cancer affects men, too. An estimated 2,670 men will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer this year.

🩷 When invasive breast cancer is detected at an early, localized stage, the 5-year relative survival rate is over 99%.

🩷 Today, more than 4 MILLION breast cancer survivors are living in the United States!

Early Detection Can Save Lives!🩷

This October, we celebrate the survivors, encourage those currently fighting, remember those we've lost, and stand alongside the families and loved ones affected by breast cancer.

From all of us at Malia Fredrickson, D.D.S., we encourage you to stay informed, know your risk, and talk with your healthcare provider about recommended screenings.

Because caring for our community goes far beyond creating beautiful smiles! 🩷

Our hearts remain with our neighbors in Walhalla. 💜

Although our office calls Seneca home, so many of our patients, friends, neighbors—and even members of our team here at Malia Fredrickson, DDS—call Walhalla home.

In the days since the devastating downtown fire, we’ve been reminded once again of what makes our Oconee County community so special: the way people come together when their neighbors need them most.

As Walhalla begins the long process of rebuilding and recovery, we encourage everyone to continue supporting the businesses, families and individuals who have been affected.

If you would like to help, donations can be made directly to the official Walhalla Fire Relief Fund:

https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/walhalla-fire-support

To our Walhalla neighbors: We’re thinking of you, we’re praying for you, and we’re standing with you.

Walhalla Strong. 💜

Today, we pause to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, the families forever changed, and the extraordinary courage of the first responders and everyday Americans who answered the call.

Twenty-five years later, we remember their lives. We honor their courage. And we will never forget. 🇺🇸
