State Fair Community College's Dental Hygiene Clinic provides exams, X-rays and preventive services The state-of-the-art dental clinic is in the Fred E.

The SFCC Dental Hygiene Clinic exists to deliver quality oral health to the community while educating future hygienists. Davis Multipurpose Center on the Sedalia campus. Dental hygiene students start seeing public patients after they have passed extensive competency exams their first semester. The students are supervised by experienced dental hygiene instructors and a supervising dentist is availa

ble for consultations and referrals. The dental hygiene student under the auspices of the supervising staff is able to assess, educate and treat patients with periodontal disease. Exposing radiographs and advising patients on preventive issues such as dietary changes needed in order to arrest and prevent decay are important aspects of preventive care each student learns. The administration of local anesthesia and nitrous oxide is a service the dental hygiene student can perform as well as dental sealant delivery and other therapeutic interventions and strategies. Summer appointment times are available Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays; fall appointment times are available Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Call the Dental Hygiene Clinic at (660) 596-7309 for appointments. Appointments are scheduled two times a day and patients are asked to be available for two to three hours for an appointment. From classrooms and clinics to communities across the world, the State Fair Community College dental hygiene students and faculty take an international trip each January. This year we packed our scrubs, our skills, our hearts and traveled to Lagos, Nigeria. This was a journey to bring healing and hope to communities in need. It challenged us, changed us, and reminded us why service to the community is at the heart of all we do. Go Roadrunners!

Welcome back to campus, Roadrunners! The dental hygiene clinic has moved to the Clinical Sciences building and it is BEAUTIFUL! We are taking patients for the spring semester. We have had an incredible year and have so many things that fill us with gratitude! We have been able to expand our program and open a new clinic due, in no small part, to the vision of our Executive Leadership Team and the Board of Trustees. Extra thanks to our Facilities department and IT for the support (and grace) during our move.

Our incredible partnerships with Katy Trail Community Health, Compass Health Network , and Whiteman Air Force Base allow us to provide unique learning experiences while improving community health.

To our hard-working and dedicated faculty, adjuncts, doctors, and administrative assistant, we appreciate your dedication to our students and the program. It is a true labor of love and the greatest compliment that so many of our former students are now leaders in our program.

We are blessed to have the best students on the planet. Dental hygiene school is tough on a good day! Thank you for showing up prepared and excited to learn (even if your faces don't always look like it at 7am 😂). To your parents and friends, we appreciate that you share your kids with us for two years. That support of our students during holidays, vacations, and every day makes the difference.

We decided there should be Halloween class parties for everyone, even college kids. And that 4 hour Oral Anatomy class goes a lot faster with costumes and candy! As dental hygenists, we have an "in" with the tooth fairy💙💛💙💛

The seniors have had a couple of busy weeks! Thanks to Katy Trail Community Health for letting us tag along and attend the resource fair at Smith Cotton High School. They also toured the water department to learn more about fluoridation practices. And finally, sometimes learning does not take place in a classroom and we all agreed that a little caffeine can help in a big way! We are halfway through the second week of classes! The students gathered for their first Student American Dental Hygiene Association meeting at lunch, attended the first Student Government Association meeting of the semester, and also had classes today. They have been learning essential skills like taking x-rays and how to take vitals. We are accepting patients at our clinic! THE FIRST FIVE PEOPLE that find our table at the Back to School Bash get free big tube of toothpaste! There are also travel tubes if you miss out on the big ones. The only catch is that you have to say "Irene Newman". She was the first dental hygienist! We are in front of Yeater until 1 pm and are next to the Navigators. Come show us your smiles!

The State Fair Community College dental hygiene students had a busy Friday as they finished their first week of classes! The juniors had a four hour Oral Anatomy and Histology class this morning, and the seniors had clinic. We are so happy to introduce Emily Imhoff as a new clinic instructor and to welcome back Dr Glen Stenquist as a supervising dentist.
