Would you restore this? And if so, how?!
Pt came in w a zirc crown and retained core build up that fractured off existing tooth only after 4 years of placement. Told the pt that if we could isolate it, we’d be able to give the tooth a fighting chance. Shout out goes to for being a rock star dental nerd on getting this tooth isolated. This tooth got the works including APA, IDS,RC, FIBER,EVERX all while DWT. By getting perfect isolation and using SLA protocols and understanding the science, I feel good about future.

Taking pictures keeps you honest with your work...
Pt came in 1.5 years after getting endo after buccal cusp broke off.
Using SLA for BRD this tooth was restored with confidence and longevity... BTL.
These pics depict:
1. Final biobase
2. Initial preop
3. RD placement (notice how RD placed over gingiva to prevent cutting it during prep)
4. Caries detecting dye
5. Caries removal endpoint (notice my peripheral seal zone is not absolutely clean) with automatrix
6. Immediate dentin seal with resin coat
7. EverXFlow at bottom of or***ce
8. Wallpapering ribbond
9. Refining caries end point to get absolutely clean peripheral seal zone
10. Final biobase before glycerin treatment

Biomimetic dentistry uses the science to restore teeth the way they were made... bottom to top, side to side and front to back.

So this sweet old lady broke #9 endo treated tooth right at the gum line. I bonded it back for her for Thanksgiving but I definitely wanted to give her a more stable solution. So voila! I put my BRD training to use and made a ribbond fiber post and built the tooth back up. Two weeks until her final crown. THIS IS THE POWER OF BIOMIMETIC RESTORATIVE DENTISTRY. BTL.

Update on the Coronavirus Pandemic

To Our Family of Patients:

Last Thursday, March 19, Governor Inslee announced new restrictions on non-urgent medical and dental procedures to help ensure Washington health care workers have enough protective equipment to wear as they work the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. This order applies to any non-urgent procedure that requires medical professionals to wear personal protective equipment.

Essential and non-essential procedures have been defined by the American Dental Association and are explained in more detail here.

Our office will remain closed until May 18, 2020, following the mandates of Washington’s Department of Health and the Washington State Dental Association.

Please know that our office is available to serve you as we navigate this time together. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me directly at [email protected], or call or text me at 206-279-6705. We will be able to use video conferencing with our phones, computers, or tablets to determine the best course of action.

Stay well and healthy.

To our valued patients,

Our top priority is the health and well-being of our patients, families, staff, and community. To that end, we have decided to close our practice starting March 17, 2020, through March 27, in accordance with guidance provided by the American Dental Association, with the intent to extend the closure if necessary.

This closure will allow us to more effectively adhere to Governor Inslee’s recommendations and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) guidance of social separation. We do not make this decision lightly, but we believe this is the right thing to do for our patients, staff, and our community.

If you have a non-urgent appointment scheduled with us, our office will be in touch to help reschedule it.

Should you require emergency dental care, please call us at 206-524-8777, and we will get in touch with you.

We’ll provide updates as they become available. In the meantime, you can stay connected with us at drbenkang.com or on Facebook.

Please stay safe and healthy.

Sincerely,

Dr. Benjamin Kang

Dear Patients and Families,

In light of the recent cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) confirmed in King County, we want to assure you that your health and well-being are our top priority.

If you are experiencing acute respiratory illness, including symptoms of fever, cough, or shortness of breath, we advise you to remain home and reschedule your appointment. We will do our best to accommodate you.

Our office follows standard infection control precautions as advised by the CDC, including the use of disinfectants, up-to-date sterilization practices, dedicated hand washing, and one-time-use disposable materials, and will continue to do so to ensure a safe visit for all of our patients.

The King County Public Health Department and the CDC provide further information about coronavirus and steps we can take to protect ourselves and those around us.
