This was Sunday April 30th the final day of the King County Free Dental Clinic. Over 1500 dental patients received needed care over the four day long event. It was wonderful to be part of this humanitarian effort.

Our employees won the door decorating contest in our building with the following entry:

'As the moon shines down on Mr Straumaan (dental implant) stands mourning over the teeth lost in time (tombstones). Bats fill the night air as rats scurry nearby gnawing at remnants left lying around. Spiders cascade down the walls in the Cementumtary of Seattle Periodontics & Implant Dentistry.'

Dr. Ashley Hoders is joining Seattle Periodontics & Implant Dentistry

Dr. Hoders is originally from Fort Lauderdale, FL and graduated from the George Washington University. She subsequently returned to Florida and earned her DMD degree from University of Florida, where she graduated with research honors and received awards for ethics and professionalism, periodontics, and prosthodontics.

She went on to Baltimore College of Dentistry, MD and completed advanced training in general dentistry before entering private general practice in Maryland. Her passion for providing excellent care and building relationships led to the decision to return to school to pursue post-graduate training in both Periodontics and Prosthodontics at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. While at the University of Texas, she became the sixth graduate and first woman to complete this dual specialty program, in which she received specialty certificates in both Periodontics and Prosthodontics and a Master of Science. Dr. Hoders is the only female in the country to hold the distinction of being a Diplomate and Fellow of the American Board of Periodontology as well as the American Board of Prosthodontics.

She has contributed to advancing the science of implant dentistry through her published clinical research on soft tissue changes with different implant placement protocols in aesthetic sites. She continues to be involved with clinical research as a network practice member of the esteemed McGuire Institute. She is the co-founder of SPEAR Hygiene and enjoys serving her community as a leader and member of several committees and study clubs on a local and national level. Her passion for interdisciplinary collaboration has led her to be very active in providing dental education for both dentists and hygienists. She serves as an affiliate faculty member at the University of Washington. Dr Hoders is an active member of the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry, and an ad-hoc reviewer for the Journal of Esthetics & Restorative Dentistry as well as the International Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry.

In our search for the right person to join us, it was most important that we select someone with excellent clinical and interpersonal skills who also compliments our values. We feel that you and your patients will be impressed not only by Ashley’s clinical knowledge and skills, but also in her ability to develop relationships. She enjoys collaborating with other dentists and helping resolve the treatment-planning challenges that come with interdisciplinary care. We are confident that Ashley meets the high standards that you have come to expect of us and our practice. We are delighted that she is joining our team!

Washington State Re-Opening and How That Affects Your Visit To Our Office

Washington’s Secretory of Health masking order states that ALL people, regardless of vaccination status, must wear a mask in some settings such as:

1) Health Care Settings like doctors’ offices and hospitals
2) Whenever children are present or expected to be present
3) On all forms of Public Transportation

We are requesting you wear a mask to our office.

We see many people every day and can never guarantee that every person is vaccinated or that children will not be present when you come for your appointment. Even if you are vaccinated you can still get the virus and pass it on to those who are not or cannot be vaccinated. Your mask will protect you and others who might be in the office at the same time.
