Don’t Ignore Bad Breath

Did you know that bad breath means more than you need to brush your teeth better? In many cases, bad breath is a sign that something is wrong. It may be the first warning sign of gum disease. It could also mean that you suffer from a dry mouth, a lack of saliva. If you do not produce enough saliva, germs that would normally be washed away remain in your mouth and cause bad breath. Bad breath could also be a sign of tooth decay, an infection in the mouth or excessive plaque. If you suffer from chronic bad breath, it is best to see your dentist to rule out any serious issues. Sometimes your bad breath simply means that you need to brush and floss better or quit bad habits, such as smoking, but in other cases, it is a sign of a serious medical issue that requires immediate attention.
