Just attended the OHSU Hixon Lecture on AUTOTRANSPLANTATION by Dr. Dick Barendregt from The Netherlands, and it changed my perspective on the field.

🔍 What is AUTOTRANSPLANTATION? It’s the surgical relocation of a tooth from one site in the mouth to another for a patient. Yes, it’s as fascinating as it sounds!

👤 Who can be a candidate? Children and adults

🔬 Is it predictable? Absolutely!

💡 Reasons for autotransplantation:

Tooth loss
Severely malpositioned teeth
Genetically missing teeth
🔍 Are implants the only solution for a missing tooth? Definitely not! Autotransplantation offers a viable alternative.
