Your practice just got a major protection. 🏛️

Last week, HB 2308 was signed into law, and if you're an Arizona dentist, this one's for you.

The law prohibits dental insurers from owning dental practices in Arizona. That means companies like Delta Dental can't control your reimbursements AND your office. Your clinical decisions stay yours. Your business stays yours.

AzDA member Dr. Lonnie Eckman’s path to dentistry started in nursing, military service, and years of CPR and medical emergency training. Today, he brings that experience to general dentistry, caring for patients of all ages, including medically complex, special needs, and anxious patients. He also teaches at ASDOH’s Special Needs Clinic, where he works with students and patients a couple of times each month.

The ADA and ADEX have agreed to add the ADA’s DLOSCE to the ADEX Dental Examination by Aug. 1, 2026. The announcement presents this as a way to modernize licensure, improve patient safety, and make licensure more portable across the many states and jurisdictions that accept or require the ADEX exam.

In this 20-minute video podcast, Dr. Caputo and Executive Director Edmonson discuss how this impacts Arizona and whether the changes represent positive or negative steps for dentistry.

Just wanted to thank all of the CADS new dentists who showed up last night for our social at Culinary Dropout. What a great night! The group was still going strong an hour after the event officially ended.

Big thanks to AzDA Executive Director Dr. Regina Cobb for dropping by and AzDA's team for putting all this together. Today we’re celebrating Dr. Dirk Donovan, who serves on the CADS New Dentist Committee.

Dr. Donovan has practiced periodontics in the Valley since 2007 and sees patients at the Central Phoenix and Paradise Valley offices at AzPerio.

He earned his DDS from Temple University in Philadelphia and received his Master of Science in Dentistry and Certificate in Periodontics from Indiana University. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.

In his free time, Dr. Donovan enjoys travel, music, and spending time exploring Arizona with friends.
